There's a new breakfast sandwich king in town! Walked over to Masa Deli on Dovercourt on Sunday to check out reports of fantastic breakfast sandwiches. We had the breakfast bagel with omelet and turkey bacon, the breakfast burrito with pastrami, the fresh squeezed tangerine juice, the gluten-free breakfast bagel, and the chicken sausage English Muffin. All straight off the grill , hot and very tasty, the tangerine juice ice cold. Best breakfast sangwidge in the city, IMHO, edging out Queen/Roncesvales champion Gold Standard for the title. Not a lot of room inside, but there are stools at the bar and a few tables. We had no wait and a table for 4 opened up within minutes of our arrival just before noon. There is street parking on Dovercourt, but Masa is barely a 10 minute walk north of Bloor Street, so easily reached via TTC. You can get Kale instead of turkey bacon or pastrami if you prefer (though one must ask, Why?), and Gluten-free sandwiches are available for an extra $1.50 or so. Excellent food, friendly service, casual and funky surroundings, replete with 50s-era formica kitchen tables.
