Y'all, we gotta talk about the lunch buffet at Mehfil. Buckle in. Let's get this outta the way first because it doesn't matter. Weekdays the lunch buffet is one of the best deals in Asheville. It's only 15.99 for all you can eat. I would pay way more than that for this and still be happy. It is run by the absolute nicest people who give back to their community in so many ways it's unbelievable. Everyone who works here is literally one of the nicest people you have ever met in your life. Eating here just feels like you are supporting angels. But let's talk about the thing that matters the most: the buffet itself. Y'all. Y'ALL! When I say literally everything here seems scientifically designed to light up every single dopamine and serotonin receptor in your brain space, I mean it! To start, they have have the best soups. They change daily, but today was this thin cream of spinach soup that tasted like Popeye himself came down off Mount Sianai to deliver the scripture. Next to that is a huge thing filled with different chutneys and pickles, including this mint chutney that... y'all, it's enough to start a religion over. Instead of wine and waifers we're gonna eat mint chutney and naan. But then the main stuff! It changes throughout the week, but in general, are you vegan? They got you. Are you gluten free? They got you. Do you wanna rip into a chicken leg like a fox in a hen house? I have literally never seen them without tandoori chicken available. Two different kinds of rice to put your saucy goodness onto of that's how the spirit moves you. Y'all, it's enough to put a tear in your eye. But let me talk about something that makes this buffet truly special and unique. They have a freaking HOT DRINK BAR! You want coffee? You want chai? You want a variety of tea? Y'all! Y'ALL! Have you ever seen a hot drink bar at a buffet? No you haven't, shut up. This right here alone shows how much they care about you and your happiness. They love you. They want you to be warm and happy and probably caffeinated. Sometimes they even have some sweet Lassi here for you. But only if you've been a good boy/girl/gender neutral person. And desserts! Now, I ain't an expert, because I generally make a bee line straight to the kheer and don't look back. But they have little pastry things that look freaking awesome and usually something else, but kheer is holy. Kheer is life. I could down in a swimming pool full of kheer from Mehfil and be okay with my demise. What I'm saying here is go there. Go to Mehfil on your lunch break! Do it! I don't know why you're not there right now.

My wife and I loved it! We really appreciate the Gluten Free and Dairy free options, the menu was great, easy to read. And the food was absolutely delicious, we'll be back!

WOOOW!!! I rarely leave reviews. This may very well be my first, certainly in years. However my experience this evening was so absolutely phenomenal I had to immediately hop on here to let the world know. Food: hands down one of the best meals I’ve had in…..years? Idk all I know is that the flavors were SO on point and perfect that I literally lost my train of thought mid sentence first bite. (To no fault of my hot date). Seriously out of this world flavor. I had the lamb Biryani my husband had something as equally delicious I can’t remember the name of. Both were to die for. The flavors and the textures and the tenderness of the meat I mean, truly impeccable. Cocktails: surprised this is a whole section? ME TOO!!! I had NO IDEA I would have the best old fashion I’ve had, maybe ever, at an Indian restaurant but HOLY MOLY!!! Fantastic!!! Service: our server (Autumn) was not only a complete gem, but also super knowledgeable, accommodating, attentive, but just all around lovely and incredibly fun to banter and chat with. I will be coming back (we’ve only ever been to the buffet and this was dinner), I will be bringing my parents, (they are huge foodies), I will be telling EVERYONE how amazing our whole experience was. And I will leave this GLOWING review because it’s the least I can do after such an astounding meal. Thank you. Also last thing, nearly everything was Gluten Free which I am which was dope.
