Firstly, I love Modern; it’s probably the best gluten free food you can find in the city and worth every penny. That being said, I don’t plan to return to this location. I waited in line for 10+ minutes to order baked goods to-go (should consider having a line for just that tbh). I get up to the counter, order, the employee looks in the case, then turns around, picks up a receipt that came in while I was ordering, then tells me “sorry! someone just online ordered the last zucchini bread”— while I was literally standing in front of her. The alternative she suggested was nothing like it so I just got an extra chocolate chip cookie instead. She also gave me a hard time about using Apple Pay instead of a debit card and was rude when explaining the QR code process. I had zero issues at the UES and Chelsea locations, so I’ll be a returning customer, but certainly not here. Thank you for giving us celiacs so many options!
