Oliver's Astoria

We had a late flight into New York and were looking for a place that was still open because there was no food served on the flight. When we arrived we were told the kitchen was closed but when we explained why we had gone there, the host went to the kitchen and agreed to serve us if we ordered right away. We sat at the bar. My wife ordered the chicken pesto sandwich and my daughter had the hamburger. I had the chicken quesadillas. All three were excellent and, since the kitchen had been closed, they were all freshly made. My wife and daughter are gluten and dairy-free and the bartender, Matt, who waited on us made sure to check back with the kitchen several times to confirm everything would meet their needs. We were very grateful to everyone at Oliver’s Astoria…the host for not turning us away even though the kitchen had closed; the chef for agreeing to prepare meals for us after closing; and to Matt for reconfirming everything would meet our dietary needs and for providing friendly service. We would definitely go there again.
