My wife and I recently stopped in for brunch. I ordered poached eggs and bacon on gluten-free bread, while my wife chose a pizza. When I looked over the menu, I noticed no clear indications for gluten- or dairy-free options, which made things a bit tricky as someone with dietary needs.
Thankfully, when we asked, the chef was very helpful and accommodating, which I appreciated. That’s why I settled on the eggs, there just weren’t many other suitable choices available. One egg was cooked perfectly, the other was unfortunately overdone. The bacon could’ve used more time on the grill, and only one side of the gluten-free bread was toasted.
The table we sat at was a bit sticky and slightly wobbly, which made eating less comfortable. My wife’s pizza was topped with a heavy amount of cheese, so much so that the oil was running off the top. The base tasted like it may have been pre-made, though we can’t be sure.
There were some positives, especially the chef’s willingness to assist, but a few things left us feeling a bit underwhelmed.
