Piesanos Stone Fired Pizza - St Augustine

WORST BIRTHDAY DINNER 🙁 My daughter & I came here to celebrate my 54th birthday. We aren’t able to go out much as we rescue dogs which causes restrictions on our time and our finances. We were excited to try this place as we have eaten at the Gainesville location a couple of years ago and the pizza was good. She is Celiac and they have a cauliflower SMALL crust. We started with 2 salads. Mine came out without any dressing so I had to wait for a server to check on us and ask for the dressing. We ordered 2 Gluten Free pizzas to share. The Cauliflower Margherita and The Cauliflower Rustica with diced pepperoni. The training server asked me which pizza to add the pepperoni to. I told him the Rustica and pointed to it on the menu. (Important details) Our 2 pizzas come out to table by the original female server and the male trainee who took the order. They did not provide plates, napkins, silverware or a pizza pie server. I asked for plates & napkins then my daughter spoke up and mentioned there was no pepperoni on the Rustica. (In pictures with the ridiculous heap of tomato sauce.) The female server told her to “dig deep it’s probably down below, if not she’d bring some.” Both servers walked away not waiting a second to see if the pepperoni was included. The trainee came back out a few minutes later with refrigerated plates, napkins & pizza server. My daughter told him there was no pepperoni. He said “she put some in”. I wondered which one because no one asked us which one we originally ordered. The Margherita had no flavor and the crust was not baked the way cauliflower crusts require. The Rustica was not at all good either. You wouldn’t put that amount of sauce on pasta let alone a pizza. We also didn’t expect the cheese to buried under it. As if this dinner wasn’t bad enough…both servers approach the table again, she is cupping a small bowl of orange coated pepperoni slices and in a condescending tone she says “just to clarify, did you really order pepperoni?” Shocked by her question, I replied “of course I did. I even pointed to it.” (I forgot then that I had also told the trainee which pizza to put it on.) As she is still holding onto the tiny bowl of the wrong pepperoni, I told them we are done, we didn’t want the pepperoni any more, that the 1 she had was incorrect, we needed 2 boxes and the check. The servers walked away. No apologies. Nothing. The manager comes and told me he’ll take the pepperoni off the bill. I thought how kind of you. Removing the pepperoni from the pizza that wasn’t there to begin with or the wrong one the server brought out that never even landed on the table. I was a bartender/server for 20 years and this type of service would never be acceptable. This bad experience cost $67 plus tip. I did not make a scene or take a video and blast it on social media…but I do believe leaving a review might be a teachable moment for this establishment.

Best gluten free pizza I’ve had ever! Great service and staff. Definitely recommend!

We ate dinner here tonight. I had a Calzone, while my kids had the gluten free pizzas. The Calzone may have been the best I have ever eaten. Tasha was our waitress. She was soo amazing. She made us feel like family.
