I am celiac, dairy-free, and soy free. This was the first restaurant I felt comfortable eating in since the waiter and kitchen staff took all my dietary restrictions seriously and recommended certain foods that would abide to all of them. It is not easy to find an accommodating restaurant. I highly recommend this place for those who are very sensitive to strict dietary restrictions!! The food was prepared by a chef and the taste was phenomenal!!!
Amazing food and gluten free options. Highly recommended if you are visiting St. Augustine. Staff was extremely friendly and made it a pleasure to visit. Definitely save room for the ice cream.
Awesome place. Cool local art on the walls.
Gluten-free pizza. Wings were just decent. Was surprised how good they were despite having thin sauce just poured on top for some reason. Felt great after. Just great place.
I got the gluten free biscuits and gravy and 2 juices. THIS PLACE BLEW MY MIND!!!! Best gluten free biscuits and gravy I’ve ever had!!!! The flavor is out of this world good! Do not skip on this place!
Our 1st time to the area and enjoying Osprey Tacos. The food was amazing! Would highly recommend this place to everyone!
Note - if you show up right when they open, the place is not packed, yet.
If you can only eat out at one place in St Augustine, make it Osprey Taco!!
Additionally, we went needing one gluten free meal and they could easily accommodate!
The arepas with chicken, the beef taco and the brisket tacos were so good I’m looking at local realty so I can live here now. We will definitely be back! The flavors of everything were amazing and everything on the menu except the burritos can be made gluten free. Heaven!
Amazing food and wonderful people! My daughter is gluten-free, and their GF waffles were amazing. Most of their menu can be made GF, as well. Highly recommend!
Pizzalley’s Chianti Room is situated in a prime location in St. Augustine, and the atmosphere is inviting and pleasant. However, our dining experience was marred by several issues that left us feeling frustrated.
Service Issues:
Upon arrival at 2:55 PM, a time when the restaurant was not particularly busy, we expected a timely greeting and service. Unfortunately, it took an unacceptably long time for our waiter to approach us and take our initial orders. This delay was surprising given the number of open tables around us. As our wait continued, we found ourselves having to remind the waiter about our requests multiple times, which only added to our dissatisfaction.
Children’s Experience:
One of the most disappointing aspects of our visit was how our children were treated. While other families at nearby tables received coloring pages and crayons to keep their kids entertained, ours did not. After noticing this discrepancy, we asked for coloring materials but ended up waiting for quite some time without any response. Eventually, one of our group members took the initiative to retrieve the coloring pages and crayons herself, which should not have been necessary. This lack of attention to families with children made the experience feel less welcoming.
Plant-based Menu and Pricing Concerns
As a vegan family, we were initially pleased to see that the menu offered customizable options. We ordered a vegan pizza, and while our waiter suggested a vegetarian pizza without cheese, we were able to request different vegetables to suit our preferences. However, we were taken aback when we received the bill: $27 for a 10” gluten-free pizza that contained only tomato sauce, a sprinkle of broccoli, mushrooms, pineapple, and a few pieces of eggplant.
In stark contrast, friends dining with us paid the same price for a 16” pizza loaded with an impressive array of toppings—pepperoni, sausage, cheese, vegetables, and specialty ingredients (they ordered half Garbage Can half Pig’n’Fig pie). It felt as though we were being penalized for choosing healthier options. Charging extra for a simple vegan pizza with minimal ingredients is not only unreasonable but also discouraging for those seeking plant-based meals.
Conclusion:
While Pizzalley’s Chianti Room boasts an attractive location and a pleasant atmosphere, the combination of poor service, inadequate attention to children’s needs, and exorbitant pricing for simple vegan options left us feeling dissatisfied. This experience does not align with what one would hope for in a family-friendly restaurant. We cannot recommend this establishment based on our visit.
So good! I was so happy to have gluten free chicken and waffles. The sweet and savory worked well together. Staff was super friendly and helpful. Found my new favorite place in St. Augustine.
We will definitely return to Luli's Cupcakes next time we're in town. A lot of cupcake shops focus more on the cute-factor than they do product quality, but Luli's has both. We got here a little late in the afternoon, so I didn't have high hopes, but the coconut cupcake was amazing. It was moist, flavorful, and not overly sweet. My husband got a gluten free cookie, even though he doesn't normally do gluter-free, but he said it was great. Can't wait to stop by again.

The one star is for the garden out back. Took my son there for a gluten free crepe and I ordered a regular one. The whole experience was disappointing to put it mildly. One girl working at around 5:30pm. We went for dessert and my crepe came out and it was terrible. The crepe was rubbery and slathered in chocolate. Too much chocolate. My son’s GF crepe never came out. I went to check on it and the girl apologized and said she was having trouble with the batter. I told her it didn’t have to be perfect and my son would still be happy. After a 30 minute wait I went back in and she said they had to make new batter. We couldn’t wait any longer and we left. She did refund my money. I have no idea why she couldn’t come tell us what was going on instead of me having to repeatedly check on the order. I regret eating my crepe because it was awful and I regret going there and disappointing my son. He was excited. I make WAY better GF crepes at home. Do not recommend going there. Save your money for good food.
Excellent choice for gluten free diets. They make everything to order so along with the listed GF items accommodation can be made too. Our waiter was knowledgeable and friendly. Wine list was excellent. Highly recommend.
I went with family because they have a gluten-sensitive menu. Horrible experience. I think it was mostly the waitresses' fault. I got pork belly tacos off of the gluten sensitive menu. I asked her to please put in a note for the kitchen that I have wheat and dairy allergies and it went downhill from there. She said they weren't wheat tortillas they were flour. I said I needed corn. I was brought flour tortillas and she said she forgot to put them in right. I asked for a pineapple mimosa but they brought out a glass with less than a cup of liquid that had no pineapple. Etc. Management comped my food. I will not be back. Please think twice before coming if you have allergies too.
Refreshing take on coffee and healthily approach to breakfast! Aussie pies are a must and the pastries are vegan and usually gluten free! good vibes among the people there at the two locations we visited🐠🐟🐬🦀🦞
Harry’s is in my top 3 favorite restaurants of St Augustine. There is a reason this New Orleans style restaurant has an outstanding reputation for its delicious cajun food. Everything on the menu looked amazing, and everyone in our party was impressed with their meal. The service was excellent, the ambiance was unique as the restaurant is in an old two story house, but theres not a great waiting area so if its raining, everyone is just standing around the host stand. Outside seating is preferred if the weather allows for it. They also had plenty of offerings for those with dietary restrictions including a separate gluten free menu. We got the gluten free Boudin balls which are cooked in oil instead of fried and they were delicious!
Stumbled onto this place and glad we did! Everything was fantastic, great food, great service, great atmosphere! I had the Signature burger and it was perfectly cooked and very tasty. My wife had the chioped chicken salad and loved it, and my SIL had the berry gorgonzola salad and said it was the best salad she ever had. PLUS she is celiac and they take it very seriously, different part of the kitchen, different implements (tongs, spatula, etc), and a manager has to deliver allergy related dishes to prevent cross contamination from the servers.
Top notch, excellent experience all the way around, and we can't wait to bring the rest of the crew back before we leave town after our vacation.
UPDATE: I sent this review to the email address they provided same day as they requested in their reply to this review. They acknowledged that they got it and have said nothing since. Do not be fooled. They have done nothing to help me here. I will update this review if they ever reply or do anything.
Terrible experience. Bad service, not safe, below average food. The waitress did not write down our order and was very frantic. When the food came out, my mom’s (Celiac) was not the correct dish she ordered. It came out with plantains (fired in a shared fryer) and not on an allergy plate. Our waitress went back and came back in less than 2 minutes with a new one on an allergy plate. We think she just moved it to an allergy plate and removed the plantains. However, the dish was still not what she ordered and when she told the waitress, she said yes you did order this. My mom very nicely tried to jog the waitress’ memory on how we ordered and the waitress said “whatever” and walked away. Did not offer to get my mom anything else or apologize for any misunderstanding. My mom did not feel comfortable eating what she ordered so she ended up splitting my filet (also Celiac). It was a below average filet and we both felt bad the next day (likely cross contaminated). On top of that, no one at our table of 6 ever got a water refill throughout dinner
Great place for bowls, wraps, and smoothies. It’s a fast casual restaurant so you order and they bring it to you and it has all sorts of options to make your own. Plus for celiac you can have gluten-free options easily. A plus if you have car, it has a parking lot in the back!!
It's probably not fair. I haven't been to CAPs in decades, but it's definitely not the same. I had fried shrimp and hush puppies last week. They were too greasy. It was as if the oil wasn't hot enough and soaked into the food, not hot enough to quickly fry it. My friends had jambalaya. While others may like it, if you are from Louisiana, you might want to skip this dish. For an appetizer, I ordered a smoked fish dip, which was good, but the menu said it was gluten-free. It came with something similar to toasted pita points. When we asked, we were told they were not gluten-free. They were out of gluten-free crackers and offered romaine lettuce. We needed gluten-free, not carb-free.
All the Northeast good diner stuff- huge variety of options, all day breakfast, diner coffee mugs. Super friendly staff and quick service, but not pushy to have you leave. Really great spot. Busy at Sat brunch time- but that’s a good sign. Felt as if it was not a chain. We would definitely come back for more! A member of our party chose it for the gluten fee options. They gave her a full separate menu! She was very pleased
Visiting here from Boston. I enjoyed the Carrot “Lox” bagel (gluten free available). It was one of the most delicious sandwiches I’ve ever had. They have so many healthy and yummy options here as well as to go option. The staff was also so nice
Recommend by a local downtown, Sarbez! was a pleasant surprise! Service was wonderful, bartenders were friendly and there were lots of options for beer and wines. The grilled cheese menu was extensive, they had Gluten Free options which was a huge plus. There are plenty of video games and things to do, to keep the whole group entertained all night. We liked this place so much we went 2x during our week of vacation. Highly recommend!
Absolutely love Purple Olive. The food is always amazing and they have lots of gluten free options! I love the braised short rib and the dijon salmon. Both are incredible. We also love that they have gluten free desserts! My favorite restaurant in St. Augustine!
The Cuban sandwich was amazing, the bread was so flavorful and crispy. The cheesecake and sangria were perfect! To top it all off all of this was gluten free. We will be back, thank you!!
This was a great spot within walking distance of our hotel. It was so good we went twice in one day! We went for brunch and came back for dinner. As someone who needs to eat gluten free, I was impressed with their options and how good everything tasted! Their gluten free pizza was delicious! Our server was also so kind and served us both times that day!
I got the dairy-free almond butter chocolate ice cream and it was absolutely delicious! It has great flavor depth! There are gluten-free options as well.
Amazing place and vibe. Everything we order was 10000/10 we got the avocado toast is a must, the chocolate muffin, the breakfast tacos and cappuccino. We went on a Sunday and they had live music which made our visit even more enjoyable. My only suggestion would be to have more gluten friendly options like maybe being able to have the avocado toast on gf bread. If you are in the St Augustine area you gotta check it out.
Great ice cream for the perfect price! The atmosphere and owner were both fantastic!
They even have gluten free and dairy free options! We will be back :)
We stopped in twice for a quick appetizer and drinks and it was amazing! The guacamole and oysters were DELICIOUS!!! Their hibiscus margarita is was so flavorful! And both times the service was 5 stars our servers were funny, accommodating to my dietary needs and allergies and attentive! No wait time. Pricing was reasonable and worth what we ordered!!
Highly recommend.
Gluten free options! For those of you like me with gluten, dairy and soy allergies!
Wow! As someone with a gluten allergy, I can’t say thank you enough for taking it so seriously! They not only make my experience great, but offer delicious gluten free sub rolls and cookies!
Our waitress Holly was awesome! It's so rare these days to witness restaurant staff that's truly happy to be at work, it was refreshing! Also, we are Gluten Free and they offer GF bread if needed and had a decent amount of GF options. All the food was tasty. The flavored latte's had a little bit of a chemical taste.
Several interesting items on the menu. The yucca fries with a sweet dipping sauce were good. We dipped regular fries in the same sauce - yum; much better than ketchup! Glad to have gluten-free choices (gluten-sensitive).
We were staying at Edgewater INN, it was our first night and we didn’t really want to drive and where…and decided with a storm threatening that we’d like to stay close. The restaurant is a casual small gas station themed place. Mia, our server, was fantastic. I’m gluten free so not only was I thrilled about the gf bun for my delicious Black and Blue burger, but thrilled with the flourless choc cake (decadent rich chocolate) My husband enjoyed his meal too. The salads were fresh as well. We went on a Friday night around 7:45. No wait. Go try it! So good!
Such a quaint place. Felt like I was eating in a home somewhere in Italy. Wonderful, personalized and intuitive service from Ann Marie. All four of us had seafood and were very happy. The table next to us ordered an extra large pizza. It looked so good that we called in a to go order a couple days later. One of the top pizzas we’ve ever had. I ordered a gluten free pizza, it was one of the best I’ve ever eaten! This is our go-to restaurant in Crescent Beach. Thank you Viola’s for providing such a great experience for your customers!
I got the burrito bowl, with tofu and Baja sauce bc I need gluten free and vegan, it was a little sweet a little spicy I have to say I was quite impressed. I had to take my food to pizza place to eat so hubby and I could eat together, guy was really nice, girl was a little short when I asked a question she pointed and said read the menu.. so? not everyone understands what Baja sauce is, and I am strict on gluten and vegan for a reason I wasn't being rude I was being careful because I get sick.
This is the only place I will have pizza. 5 Star is the best I need gluten-free and this last pizza I had I had Italian sausage, pepperoni, onions, tomatoes, and mushrooms compared to my usual Italian sausage. I thought I died and went to heaven. it was excellent excellent I can’t say enough good about the pizza and their delivery service is great!
Excellent! Kookaburra always has good service, quality gluten free pastries, and creative lattes.
There are outlets to plug your laptop in; and it's a great place to get work done in the afternoon (not too busy).
Love coming here for an afternoon pick-me-up.
