I lived in Mesa for several years, and was able to visit again with a friend before the mess with COVID-19 started. What a cute place this is! I would recommend eating outside the restaurant when it's not too hot, as the inside can be a little loud. I'm gluten-free, so my options are often limited eating out, but I had some salmon and yucca fries, along with twice fried and sweet plantains and dipping sauce. The salmon was the best I've ever had, and the sweet plantains were DELICIOUS. My friends had different varieties of empanadas, which smelled incredible, followed by a dessert called a "dizzy fig" empanada. It's basically an empanada with warm figs, caramel, and queso inside topped with powdered sugar.
Definitely worth a stop, if you want to try a new restaurant. Not a bad price, either. It doesn't seat a large number of people, so the service is better, but just be aware the parking is kind of cramped. There's places nearby you can park and walk a short distance over, though.
