Dinner with friends. We are 5 adults, one of whom is celiac. We are from the area but we had never decided to try the "Merlo" in Casciana Terme. And maybe it was better to continue walking past it. The food I have to say is good. However, the prices are very high. €15 for a plate of "crossed" cold cuts is definitely exaggerated. Portion (for €15!!!) ridiculous. Opt for something else. Definitely quality cold cuts (at least that) but not comparable in quantity/price ratio to what you pay for them! Nice enough outdoor location but making you pay €2.50 per cover for paper placemats which are free in many pizzerias well... You do it. My friends limited themselves to the appetizer plus a portion of fries and 3 bottles of sparkling water. I instead had a first course of pappardelle with white ragù which I must say deserves 4 stars out of 5. Excellent. What ruined our evening and dinner was the elderly manager Giuseppe. Friendly as a gun barrel. He made a scene in front of all the other customers just because we had asked him for a little more bread given that 5 of us had brought us a basket with 5 slices of bread!! Come on!! Treating customers like this is tantamount to dismissal... But he is the restaurateur and perhaps after years of work he still hasn't understood that a customer must always be treated well, with patience and courtesy. Which at the checkout, after he asked me if everything had gone well, I didn't hold back from reminding him. Bill for another very high: €93!!! For 4 starters, a chip and a first course plus 3 bottles of water. I strongly advise against it. Then if you want to be treated badly and pay a lot, go ahead.
