Upon arrival, the staff were friendly and the space felt very cozy especially with the stark temperature difference nowadays between indoors and outdoors. The warm lighting as well as the combination of wood and metal fixtures works cohesively.
Ordered:
-Roti Massaman: roti bread with potato, onion, peanuts in massaman curry sauce garnished with fried onion. Medium spicy.
-Nam Tok Nuer (Beef Salad): Beef flank with dried chili, red onions, toasted rice powder, cilantro, scallion, mints and fish sauce lime dressing. Mild spicy. Gluten free.
The food was okay. Roti was freshly prepared, soft, and flaky. As for the massaman curry sauce, it was too tangy for my liking but the ingredients served with it were cooked perfectly. Also, I thought it was pretty mild in spice even though it is listed as medium spicy on the menu. I appreciated the thinly sliced beef flank for the salad item but it was well-done so it was chewy and made for quite the jaw workout. It would have benefitted with more toasted rice powder. If I were to order this dish in the future, I would ask for some fresh or extra dried chili on the side to spice things up a bit plus a side of sticky rice.
Overall, my dinner experience was not bad and I can see this business doing well in the neighborhood especially with their bar section. The space would be great for hosting small private events or celebrations too.
