A great place for seafood on the beach! Runaway Island is very well run. We were there on a busy Sunday night during Fall Break. The place was slammed and everything ran very smoothly. Our server was very knowledgeable about the menu and special dietary concerns. She checked on us regularly with a smile on her face despite the fact that the place was packed. She also suggested we get our order in before a large group. I was ecstatic to find a gluten-free menu and lots of seafood options. My fish was cooked perfectly, broccoli was tender and not mushy, and the dressing for my salad was quite tasty. My friend got a fried shrimp basket with fries and a giant strawberry margarita in a souvenir cup. The breading was golden brown and didn't peel off the shrimp. The shrimp was pink, plump and juicy. It looked delicious and perfectly cooked. After dinner, we wandered outside to see the ocean. EVERY employee we encountered (at least 6) made eye contact and greeted us. We had a short wait to be seated, but everything went so smoothly you'd never know how slammed the kitchen and bar must have been. I definitely recommend Runaway Island whether you are vacationing in Panama City Beach or just passing through like we were!
