I gave myself two days to let the experience at SIGGIS sink in.
July 27, 2024
We called before our visit to make sure it was possible to eat in. The call with the first employee was friendly, and when I asked if gluten, onions, and garlic were included, I was told "Gluten-free is a small problem." They offer gluten-free pasta. Onions are not an issue, they are NOT included in the dish, and garlic is included.
The comment from a connected second employee that contamination cannot be ruled out is fine with me. When we arrived, the waitress approached us (her entire bra showing). We are completely open to any style of dress (goth, punk, chic, sporty, it doesn't matter), but the entire gray lace bra shouldn't be visible in the faces of my companion and me. I politely pointed this out to her. Annoyed, she pulled up her black shirt. Furthermore, the waitress seemed relatively listless, and the entire ordering process was slow. What struck us as odd was that she then tried to force a side salad on me. It was also initially unclear whether it was included with the dish or not. Only after asking several times was the answer given: it wasn't included.
We ordered the gluten-free Vegetable Tofu Bolognese & Burger. The Bolognese was almost cold and contained an extremely high amount of onions, which annoyed me greatly, as I don't particularly like onions (I had specifically asked about it beforehand) and react to them with a bloated stomach. Not an allergy in the classic sense, but simply very unpleasant. It's completely irrelevant here whether it's an allergy, intolerance, or simply a dislike for this ingredient. If you're told that onions aren't included, you have to trust it.
Accordingly, my stomach reacted to the onions. Therefore, dessert was out of the question. Even though we would have liked to try the visually very appealing mango cake.
The burger tasted great.
Another thing we noticed: It's a hygiene concern when the ordered glass straw (by the second waitress) is carried from table to table and then brought to the guest. Serving it with a napkin or cloth would be absolutely necessary for hygiene reasons. The waitress probably hadn't washed or sanitized her hands beforehand. We're mentioning this here in the review, as we're not interested in any discussions on the premises or with other guests. We hope that hygiene is more important elsewhere than here. I mentioned to the waitress that we had to catch a train and politely asked for a receipt (service receipt). In the meantime, I went to the restroom. During this time, no service receipt arrived, so I asked her again. She gave a lackluster yes. She didn't come to our table for over 20 minutes. We then got up and left without a receipt, missing our train and having to wait over 1.5 hours for the next one. I should also mention that we traveled 120 km away to eat there. All in all, a bad experience. A real shame.
