Sidewalk Cafe

What a great little gem to find. We were on the cruise ship and it docked in Airlie Beach. We were looking for a decent coffee and Sidewalk Cafe was recommended on the map we were given by the hop-on hop-off bus. When we arrived we were told that there was only 15 minutes till they closed. We were disappointed, but how good were the staff there. They suggested we sit down & look at the menu and order lunch asap. They had some great gluten free options so our decision to order was made easy. Nothing was too much hassle even though it was right on close time. The chicken burger was coated and gluten free. How excited was I to eat this delicacy. The manager even made time to have a chat and we told her how great the service & food was. She is a valuable employee. (We know as we're self employed and have staff) Recommend you visit for a great experience like we encountered. 👌

There is a special menu. I had the lemongrass chicken sandwich, one of the signature dishes here. I was worried that the combination of lemongrass and sandwich would not go well, but my worries were for naught and it was really delicious. The lemongrass-scented seasoned chicken was the highlight of this sandwich, and the salad, sauce, and bread also went well with the chicken. The smashed avocado was just plain delicious. It's also attractive that you can see a glimpse of the sea when you sit on the outdoor magnet. I give it a 4 because the smashed avocado is ordinary compared to the signature dish. I recommend this brunch cafe with a nice atmosphere. Gluten-free, dairy-free, and vegetarian menus are well explained.
