I've been a patron of Skipolini's since the late 70s when we lived near their original restaurant in Clayton. For a while, there was a myth that pregnant women who were overdue could speed up the whole process by eating there.
Skip has expanded and we visited their Folsom location a week ago. It was a busy Friday night but we were seated right away.
The server who took our order disappeared and our food and check was delivered by a different food server. The service was ok - friendly but not exceptional. The food was about the same - not bad, but not great either. My wife's gluten free pizza was absolutely covered with olives. We wouldn't normally complain about too much of a topping, but olives? My pasta was meh - bland and not terribly hot. Kind of Denny's quality.
Lord knows it is tough running a restaurant these days. The staff was overloaded and the kitchen could use some more hands too. We will give them another try. Could have been an off-night.
