The Square Grouper leans into its quirky Keys history with a fun, drug trade-era theme that gives the whole place a bit of an edge — in a good way. The upstairs bar is lively and well-run, and we appreciated the good conversation and service from the bartender. The menu upstairs is small, and gluten-free options are limited. It was a bit frustrating that they couldn’t bring food up from the main restaurant below. That said, we did head downstairs for dinner and had a solid meal. The wine list was especially impressive, and everything felt curated for a more upscale experience. It’s definitely on the pricier side, but if you’re looking to splurge on a night out with some character and a great drink in hand, the Square Grouper delivers. #SquareGrouper #FloridaKeysEats #UpperKeysDining #IslandVibes #WorthTheSplurge

Surprisingly nice place for upper Keys! Good food, good, friendly service. The place is casual, but new and clean. And yes, you really park in between boat things, don't let it confuse you. We visited twice, trying both steaks (ribeye, filet), some Caesar salad with grilled chicken, and one of the appetizers - Chicken Wing Lollipops. We were happy with everything, least with the starter, but it was still good. Most of our dishes can be highly adjustable - any salad can come with chicken, shrimp, fresh fish, tuna, or scallops. We also played with addition to steak a bit. Gluten free options are marked in the menu - but remember to tell your server to prepare them in a gluten free versions. It's a decent number of options, a few of the appetizers, steak, salads, and some fish options. They even have gf cookies, but I didn't try them.
