As someone with celiac, it is very difficult (almost impossible) to find a cafe that can accommodate a strict gluten-free diet. I have never once gotten sick from this place. The staff are very friendly, the food is fresh, and I think that the size of the sandwich is large enough to justify the price. The GF bread is out of this world, and sometimes they even have the frozen loaves for sale at this location. It is a must visit if you are gluten-intolerant, but go earlier in the day for best choice of pastries. If you can get a spot by the window it has a very charming vibe on a rainy day! I love it!

I had an astounding experience today at Stega Eatery. After being on set and not sleeping until 2am, all I wanted when I woke up was a coffee and a gluten free cake. I had been to three previous cafes that didn’t even have ONE gluten free item, and I was beginning to feel a bit demoralized. A girl needs her sweet treat, ok? And then… I saw it. The sign. It proclaimed “gluten free now available” - and goodness, it did not lie! There were tons of gluten free options for both sweet and savoury foods. As for lunch/ dinner staples, there are a variety of sandwiches, soups, and salads all available GF. Now, the dessert… where do I begin. It’s so nice to not feel as though you’re an after thought when you can’t have gluten. There were TWO muffin options, two cakes, and a brownie, which were all safe to eat. I had only planned on buying one cake, but the chocolate coconut muffin came out of the oven as I sat down to eat, so I legally had to buy it. The muffin was fresh, tasty, and light. The pistachio white cake was phenomenal, and I would 100% recommend it. I’m upset I’m flying back to Toronto for another shoot tomorrow, because I really want another slice of it now! Now, I need to give a special shoutout to both baristas who were absolute sweeties. They made the experience go from great to exquisite. I felt so welcomed, and I truly left with a smile on my face. I absolutely cannot recommend Stega enough. The service and the offerings made this such a pleasant place to visit. I’ll be back next time I’m in Vancouver!
