We had a truly memorable lunch at Tapoco Tavern, nestled right by the riverside—a perfect backdrop of rushing water that added a calming touch to the entire experience. The atmosphere is rustic and inviting, making it a great stop whether you’re passing through or spending the day exploring the area. If you’re a cheese lover, don’t miss their brick oven pizza—it’s generously loaded with melted cheese. Just a heads-up: you might want to ask for a lighter amount if you prefer something a bit less rich. They also offer a gluten-free cauliflower crust option, which is a thoughtful touch for those with dietary preferences. My personal favorite? The Tavern Tacos with trout—absolutely delicious, especially when paired with their crispy fried okra. It’s a unique Southern twist that really works. Another great perk: if you're driving an electric vehicle, you can charge up near the tennis court beside the Tin Can Theater while you eat or explore. We took advantage of the wait time to hike to Bear Creek Falls, just a short drive away. The trail is a manageable 2.5-mile loop with a highlight about halfway in—an icy, crystal-clear spot above the falls perfect for a quick dip. It was both refreshing and rewarding, capping off a wonderful afternoon. Highly recommend Tapoco Tavern not just for the food, but for the whole experience!

Food is great! Lots of options for anyone with dietary restrictions. The best Gluten Free burger bun I have ever had! There tends to be a wait for a table (I'm always there while an event is going on, and with a large group) but it is worth the wait!

Amazing river views from the patio seating. Service is friendly and efficient. We've tried many selections on the menu, and the food quality has been very good to excellent. Our favorites include the Trout Nuggets, Cheoah Wings, the burgers, and the pizza. My daughter appreciates that the restaurant makes it very easy to eat gluten-free, with GF options clearly marked on the menu and a GF pizza crust available.
