The Big Zen - Hakka Chinese, Thai & Guyanese (HALAL)

The vegetarian steamed momos were bland in my opinion , the chili fish and the hakka noodles were well seasoned. It would be nice to have some gluten free options on the menu especially those with dietary restrictions.

This review is far overdue. The gist of it- always delicious, fresh, hot food. Great service. Very accommodating to allergens. A family member and I have been coming here for a good few years, even going back to the prior location on Broadleaf. It has never changed. Delicious food served fresh, nice and quick. The service for dine in and/or phone ordering is friendly and precise. I honestly cannot remember a bad experience here. An even bigger plus. Another family member of mine is celiac, along with some other dietary intolerances. The “other” category isn’t always easy for a kitchen to accommodate for. We tell them what we need and they do their best. So long as it is for-sure GF, it should be good; GF is the main thing. But other things can still have them feeling just “meh” afterwards. Zen is the only place outside of home cooking that they always feel basically fine after eating. Huge thanks to the kitchen for obviously bending over backwards to make it all right for us. We’ll continue to be loyal customers for as long as can be. Everything is delicious here, but. Some of my favourites here are the Zen’s Special chicken or the Bombay chicken. Nice and spicy, with lots of other flavours all blending together well.
