Nicely furnished with new chunky wood tables and benches. Nice photos for sale of local lakes scenery etc.
The food was good, tasty and a reasonable quantity for the prices. Cumberland sausage on bun was great & very tasty. Some gluten free options available (a great toasted cheese & ham toasties with salad was one example.
Sadly service was lacking when visited. Staff were difficult to communicate with & reluctant to assist. A simple request to change type of bread with soup was met with 'thats the only bread we have' only when pushed to go and check & return with plain (it makes a huge difference to some customers who have hidden difficulties eating).
At moderately busy times service was a glacial pace, with waiting time over 15mins for 2 coffees & 1 tea.
Sadly, given location (in the Lake District), dogs only allowed in the upstairs section.
