The Kraken's Cup Tearoom

Kenzie was very accommodating with our large part of 7. Several of us had dietary restrictions and allergies and they were able to accommodate. The gluten free Scone was delicious.

We really wanted to like this place and after reading all of the reviews, it seemed like a great place. We weren't sure if this was a normal occurrence but we ordered a simple tea for two. We waited 30+ minutes just to receive the tea which was not steeped thoroughly, leaving you with watered down tea and was not piping hot; almost luke warm. Additionally, the scones took another 30+ minutes to arrive. The scones were decent. Finally, the tea for two arrived almost 2 hours after our reservation. I'm not sure why it took two hours for something that looked like I could have put it together in 10 minutes. They will say that it was because of the Gluten Free requirement that it took so long but 2 hours was quite excessive. The food was VERY disappointing and tasted almost store bought. Even some of the crackers they placed some of the items on tasted stale. They will probably also say, "our kitchen is a made to order kitchen and most guests enjoy a 1-3 hour experience"... no they don't. No one wants to sit there for up to 3 hours drinking cold ans watered down tea. We have had high tea all over England. Never have we EVER spent more than 1.5 hours at our tea for two experiences. Even at some of the most expensive tea rooms the tea would come HOT, I was able to steep my own tea and the food was 100% better and tasted like someone actually made it unlike the store bought tasting food we received at the Kraken's Cup. They tried really hard to provide true English high tea but what we received was cold tea, sugary scones, and disgusting food. Also, who adds dye to the sugar? Just give people normal sugar cubes... The best part of our experience here was leaving.

An “eclectic eatery” is an accurate description of the Kraken’s Cup. Such a charming destination, with a wide variety of teas, from which to choose. During my most recent visit, I selected a black tea, aptly named Black Arrow, an Earl Gray tea, with fruity notes and hints of vanilla. The tea sandwiches were absolutely delicious, as well as the tea cakes and assorted confections, which were delightful. Each guest receives their own tea pot, cozy, cups and saucers, each beautifully crafted and uniquely delicate. If you like high tea, you will love this tea room. They even have gluten free options. I highly recommend this hidden gem in found in Fountain City!
