The Capital Grille

The food was incredible but that’s not the reason I’m taking time to leave a review. Our server Janzen ( hope I’m spelling that right) was simply the best server I’ve ever had. He made a point to get to know us on a more personal level and made recommendations for my celiacs disease. He gave us fantastic mocktails based off of our favorite fruits and even made sure we got to try the phenomenal espresso cake that was gluten free before we left. Request Janzen if you go to Capital Grille.

As a life-long Kansas Citian, I am embarrassed to share that I enjoyed my first meal at Capital Grille this last week. My husband and I celebrated our 1st wedding anniversary at Capital Grille and we were BLOWN away by the incredible food, service and atmosphere. While our reservation was a 7:30pm and we had arrived about 5-10 minutes early, we didn't get seated until 20-30 minutes after our reservation. This was no big deal to me as I have previously worked in the restaurant industry (as a hostess on the Plaza) and understand the intricacies of coordinating reservations/open-tables/walk-ins during busy times. The service MORE than made up for our initial wait time. Our server was Brooke and she made the experience so enjoyable. Her demeanor is professional but not stuffy and she really put us at ease as first-timers. She even made some great suggestions regarding portion sizes and brought out a sample of the new Doli vodka drink (pineapple infused vodka) which tasted incredible. We appreciated the complimentary anniversary desert that included a gluten free, egg free flourless chocolate torte! As someone with multiple food allergies, I felt very safe eating here and cannot wait to return! We also appreciated that the acoustics of the restaurant made conversation easier for those who are hard of hearing (the restaurant is carpeted and the ambient music is not too loud). I liked that the dining room was separate from the bar which also lends it self to easier conversation. There happened to be a private party disbanding the back room which is right near the restrooms and I did end up getting awkwardly stuck in the crowd for about 2 minutes while trying to walk back to my table from the restroom. You will not find a better steak and better service than Capital Grille!
