We just had some drinks at Conservatory and quite disappointed by the pricing. I am wanting to avoid gluten so having a beer was not suitable for me. I opted instead for the sodas, and the menu clearly stated that it was $6 to add a spirit. I clarified with the server whether this was the case and she said yes. I ended up ordering three different flavoured sodas and each time asked for tequila to be added as the spirit. I assumed my sodas and tequila would have come to $42. My husband ordered three beers and when we had just left he advised me that the total was $107!
That didn’t make sense to me, but then we realised we were charged about $36 for the tequila. I don’t know where the miscommunication was but it’s quite disappointing this happened.
Essentially each soda I had, came with $12 worth of tequila. The menu was written in such a way that it sounded as though the added spirit is just a flat $6. I was never told that perhaps the tequila cost more, or that 2x the tequila was being added to my soda. If it’s the latter it’s a bit irresponsible of the venue as I’ve unintentionally consumed more alcohol than I was aware of.
Given we drank our drinks we did not see the point in going back to argue over $18. It’s a shame because we enjoyed the atmosphere and the staff were friendly and attentive.
