The Funky Taco

Loved that they could accommodate gluten free and dairy free. And it was amazing food! Huge portions. Friendly bar tender.

We have been going to the Funky Taco since it was only an Airstream option years ago. There is something about having a couple Macho tacos while taking a break at a concert or while strolling around a vineyard. We were very excited when they opened on 8th street and have been devout fans as much as possible ever since. The tacos are all amazing. I am not sure how they pack that much flavor in between the tortillas. We frequently get the nachos too and the sides are always very imaginative and tasty. The Funky Taco was the first place we went once DT restaurants began reopening, and I am pretty sure they were in the first couple places we got takeout during the pandemic. The food made us feel a lot more okay being stuck at home for months. We do wish you could order the more "special" tacos individually outside of happy hour so if it just me and my wife we can get more variety. They are a gluten-free friendly restaurant so my daughter really appreciates the ability to not worry too much about her autoimmune issues. The last couple times the service has been iffy, but where hasn't it been? There was an awesome bald fella that ran the front of house, but I haven't seen him recently; seriously he was about the most seemingly genuinely nice person. Anyway... Funky Taco rocks... My wife's favorite is the Thaico, mine is the Macho taco, but you really can do no wrong. We have had literally everything on the menu by now. It is hands down the best place to go on 8th street for fast, modern and wholesome food.
