The Green House

We had an afternoon tea gift from a member of my wife’s family on our wedding day in January and decided to go back to the Green House as we had already had an afternoon tea with my son and newly wed wife last year. We had a delightful afternoon tea last year with plenty of sandwiches and savoury’s and bottomless coffee/tea. We were both looking forward to having a delightful afternoon tea again. We had a lovely warm greeting from the staff and showed a window table and found the surrounding lovely. The gentleman who served ourselves was extremely friendly and informative. But I am sorry the tea only contained savouries and extremely sweet and sugary items that have left me feeling sick all afternoon. I was really hoping for a selection of sandwiches. I must also mention the gentleman serving ourselves was extremely busy and would have benefited from some assistance as we did have to wait a long time for coffee refills as he was busy serving others. My wife is coeliac and we had requested gluten free well in advance, the bread and savoury’s tasted stale and the scone was somewhat undercooked and had to return to have replaced and was very similar to the first. Overall we have a much better experience last year.

I was treated to an amazing Birthday weekend at the hotel. We had two fabulous meals in the restaurant and the most incredible gluten free vegetarian afternoon tea. The room was amazing with a huge Victorian bath with some really lovely bubble bath. All the staff were extremely welcoming and friendly. I would highly recommend to hotel to anyone looking for a prefect treat.
