We had such a wonderful experience dining at The Hydra Steakhouse in Sandpoint! From the moment we walked in, we were charmed by the warm, cozy atmosphere. The rustic wooden chairs and tables gave it a cabin-like feel, and the vintage artwork and quirky decor made the space feel both inviting and unexpectedly spacious. Our server, Brennan, truly made the evening special. He was incredibly welcoming, attentive, and knowledgeable - with a positive energy that made us feel right at home. As for the food. We were pleasantly impressed! I had the Herb Chicken with steamed green beans, and I can honestly say it was one of the best grilled chicken dishes I’ve ever had. Perfectly seasoned and juicy. I also have gluten and onion allergies, and they were more than accommodating, which was such a relief and made the experience that much more enjoyable. My husband had the Fire Grilled Salmon with mashed potatoes and green beans, and he raved about how perfectly it was cooked - crisp on the outside, flaky and tender on the inside. My father-in-law went with the Seafood Fettuccine and practically licked the plate clean 🤣. But the grand finale? The Mud Pie - a house-made Oreo crust filled with mocha nut ice cream and topped with rich chocolate sauce. My husband, a true mud pie connoisseur, declared it possibly the best he’s ever had. Every “this is my last bite” turned into another. The Hydra Steakhouse was a charming surprise and is a must if you’re in Sandpoint. We’ll absolutely be back!

This is a well-known restaurant, one that I grew up eating at as a kid. They have a diverse menu, and lunch specials during the work week. It's an old building with multiple layers so you can always find a private place to connect with someone. The service was fantastic, but I am giving them only two stars for the fact that they do not have any gluten-free items. No gluten-free tortillas, wraps, pasta, buns, bread, or rolls. Additionally, since they no longer have their salad bar, it is very difficult to find gluten-free items beyond their two dinner salad options. Be careful if you have a gluten sensitivity or allergy and double check the french fries as I believe they are coated. They do a great job of using tallow instead of seed oils in all of their fryers, but is unacceptable in this era to not have gluten free friendly options.
