The Merchant Tavern

The food was exceptionally delicious and I felt comfortable as a celiac eating here as Cristina, our bartender/server ensured she verified with the kitchen for my choices. She was fantastic as was Joe her manager and the other bartenders during a busy evening. However, where we felt the atmosphere lacking was in the support Cristina and staffed received while dealing with a belligerent patron. We witnessed the staff trying to serve her and she was confrontational, demanding things of the kitchen that the staff refused to accommodate (who orders scrambled eggs on pasta?) and drinking excessively. This was creating an atmosphere for those of us at the bar who couldn’t help but witness this “Karen” in action. And instead of having the staff’s back or checking in with the customers around the patron, the floor manager appeased her by continuing to serve her. Regardless if the patron is one of long standing, she should have been asked to leave. Period.
