11/10 – A winter gem in Halifax! We found The Old Triangle Irish Alehouse by pure chance. We had originally been recommended the restaurant across the street, but the beautiful historic building, the Irish style, and the cozy vibe from the outside immediately caught our attention — so we decided to walk in. And honestly, it was the best dining experience we had in Halifax during our winter trip. The restaurant has multiple floors, stunning décor, and an incredible atmosphere. There was live Irish music, which made the experience even more special and warm, especially in winter. The service was outstanding. Our server Kenzie was absolutely wonderful — kind, attentive, and genuinely caring. I ordered a lemon tea, which came beautifully served in a teapot, and my boyfriend ordered an Irish beer. I really wanted to try the haddock, but due to my food allergies (gluten, dairy, soy, and paprika), I was worried there wouldn’t be anything safe for me besides a simple salad. I was happily surprised — the staff was incredibly accommodating and informed me that the haddock could be grilled instead of battered. For sides, I initially chose green salad and roasted potatoes. Kenzie proactively warned me that the potatoes contained paprika and offered to substitute them with rice, which turned out to be delicious. This level of awareness and care meant a lot to me. My boyfriend ordered the fish and chips and absolutely loved every bite. The portions were generous, flavorful, and very satisfying. Prices were very reasonable for the quality, portion size, and experience. We will definitely return during our stay in Halifax. This is one of those places you don’t always hear about, but once you find it, you realize it deserves much more popularity. We will be recommending it to all our friends. ✔️ Amazing atmosphere ✔️ Live music ✔️ Excellent service ✔️ Generous portions ✔️ Great value ✔️ Excellent allergy awareness & safety Highly, highly recommended.
