It really breaks my heart to be leaving this 1 star review. Evans is usually incredible, with the best fish and chips in town. HOWEVER, last time we ordered from them the fish had gone bad. We called to let them know, and the person on the phone assured us that he had taken down our information and that our next order of the same dishes would be free. Today when we placed our order, we were told that they had no record of that conversation, and that at most they could comp us one of the dishes. We pushed back, saying that it's not our fault that their co-worker didn't properly note our information (and they also noted that they'd just changed their system over, so it might have gotten lost in the shuffle). In the end, we were left to pay for bad fish last month with no compensation from the restaurant.
We're all for supporting a great local business, so this situation sucks. We order from Evan's every month and have easily spent thousands there over the past five years. It's a shame to have to find another gluten free fish and chips place now.
Asked if they had any gluten free items and they provided me with a separate menu of just gluten free items. I got fish cakes. I believe they also had a gluten free seafood chowder. Staff was nice. Outside patio is pretty small so we had to sit inside.
Had an amazing dinner, the food and drinks were excellent and they were very accommodating to dietary restrictions (vegan, gluten free) in our group. The service was also outstanding and each person in our group received a fresh rose at the end of the meal. The ambiance was really nice as well. I highly recommend it!

I had been to Side Hustle before twice and had such a lovely experience.
So I’m not thrilled to write this. But feel the need to share as I am concerned about what happened to me.
I popped into eat some lunch during burger week, and they only had a burger week menu. Really nothing else on it. Which as a small place I guess is expected.
I was about to head out, and the server recommended the Thai chilli chicken, and I said I can’t eat really spicy food. I then asked if the gluten free Thai chilli chicken could be made less spicy as it was the ONLY thing on the menu that wasn’t beef, or tofu that could be made gluten free.
The server said yes - the kitchen could not add the spicy chili jam to the burger. And I was like great I’ll have that.
The burger came out, everything looked good.
3 bites in and I can barely breathe.
They included the spicy chili jam, and as someone who can’t do super spicy items I nearly choked in the restaurant. It was quite embarrassing actually, I was coughing so hard I had tears streaming down my face. Made worse by how echoey the bar is itself.
The server finally came by after I was coughing for several minutes and I told him there is spicy chili jam on this. He says he will get them to remake it.
I had gotten nauseous from coughing so hard I don’t even want to eat more of the food that isn’t spicy (aka the fries I paid extra for)… So I just say no, thanks. You can take it. I had only eaten a handful of fries and a couple bites of the burger.
It was pretty bad, I was pretty embarrassed.
And I wasn’t even finished my cider before the bill was handed to me.
They charged me for 50% of the meal, burger and fries even though I didn’t eat most of it.
I likely should have said something to the server however I was already embarrassed from coughing so loudly.
I likely will take a second thought before heading back as everything is expensive now, and I’d like to eat what I pay for.
An exceptional dining experience. Very impressed with how serious food allergies are treated. Our server, who was excellent, guaranteed no crosscontamination of gluten and the manager Yamac, who was particularly personable, attentive and pleasant,
discussed the method of food preparation, ingredient substitution prior to the meal being made and checked in afterwards to confirm everything was satisfactory.
My partner and I enjoyed every bite of our meals. I had the Chipotle Mango Chicken, my partner had the Grilled Chicken Zen Bowl. Photo of the Chipotle Mango Chicken enclosed. The cheesecake was the best that we ever had. The service was excellent. Hats off and thanks to Moxie's a restaurant doing it right. We will be back.
Such a fun place to eat. Celiac safe (in my experience) and most of the menu can be made gf. It tends to be noisy so if you're not into that kind of thing it's something to be aware of. It's a cozy spot and the service is always top notch. Once a dish wasn't what I'd hoped and the server inquired why I wasn't eating much. I didn't want to complain but after I told them I wasn't into it they brought a free dessert after offering to replace the whole meal (I was already full so I didn't want another). The one time I didn't love what I got they more than made up for it with the service. That same day I ate a bunch of another persons pasta and theirs was excellent, I think what I had was a one off and have gone back with 0 issues since.
Lot of options however stay away from the fish and chips. They were overcooked and the batter was way too sweet. They have several gluten free options (mainly sandwiches) and the service was fast. The place is gorgeous and the bathrooms were an old wine cellar. A lot of history
Folks are over excited about beer batter, but letting that go, get the gluten free version fish and chips! Also nachos were nice, and the salmon platter came with well made soda bread. Nice crust
Solid pour of Guinness, what more can I ask for!
This is such a wonderful place. The pizza is delicious, had the Mediterranean pizza, veggies so fresh. My sister is gluten intolerant and said their gluten free crust one of the best.
We'll be back again. 😁🍕
came here with a group as gluten and dairy free… they had a whole menu to choose from!! And the carrot cake was to die for! Such excellent service I had to come back for a full brunch and more cake lol
The constantly rotating tap makes it worth coming back over and over for great local beer. Only thing that can make the beer better is the burgers to go with! Their gluten free buns are actually good, too.
They seem to prefer reservations but we were seated immediately as the season has ended. View from the back was stunning and the sunset we saw happens to be one of the best I've ever seen in my life. The food was excellent and our waitress was excellent in helping accommodate A gluten intolerance, shellfish allergy, and peanut allergy. Would recommend dinner here, with a reservation, around sunset! Restrooms clean and menu had reasonable variety.
Irish pub. Our server was Samantha and she was very friendly. I tried the P.E.I. mussels with a gluten free bun on the side, and my partner had the Kinkenny fish and chips. The mussels were okay, the white sauce at the bottom was flavorful. The mushy peas with the fish and chips were a hit. The fish was crispy on the outside. Tartar sauce was homemade. The bar was really loud, I couldn't hear the people across the table from us lol but it's nice if you're looking to just hangout and listen to some music and drink a few beers. We sat inside, but the patio is big and seemed welcoming.

This place is great! They had dairy and gluten free options, and an accessible entrance on the side. The service was wonderful and there was a show that evening with live music. I was very happy with my meal. The fish was cooked perfectly. Not a cheap meal, but about what you would expect for the quality.

Ristorante a Mano

Nestled at the Halifax waterfront amongst historical buildings, the A Mano is a beautiful Italian restaurant that serves traditional fares with great pairings of wines and the usual beers.
Service is smooth overall, but we did have a small issue with a gluten-free order, which needed to be rectified.
We were a group of 8 and a wide selection of food was ordered.
The Schiacciata, Sgabello, Calamari Fritti were good and perfect for a chilly evening. As the main course, Quattro Carni, fresh Halibut with Shrimps, Lasagna, Lamb Shank, Seafood Stew and the Linguini were good. We were too full and ordered the share Torta Per Due cheesecake and were not disappointed .
Overall, good restaurant and great vibes for a chilled dinner next to the water.

I celebrated my birthday tonight with my mom and we both were given a complimentary drink and dessert. Very accommodating to my moms gluten allergy as well. We had a very good Waiter named Ethan and excellent service. Thank you again for the great experience and birthday dinner.
Beautiful building. Love the vibrant artwork throughout. Food was good. They have a lot of diversity, and plenty of gluten free options. Would love to come back and try some more!
Blueberry Cream Soda made my day!
Had the fish and Chips. Came out piping hot. Crisp beer batter, fall apart fish... yum!
Edit:
Came back to enjoy bacon wrapped scallops, parmesean garlic fries, and coconut cream cheesecake.
YUM!!!

We heard so many good things we decided to make the trip to give it a try. The pizza was delicious. The staff was very friendly.
Tons of gluten free options.
We will be returning.
We heard this place was good for gluten free but the menu was not marked to show what is or can be modified to be gluten free. When we asked our server, they really had no idea. They had to go get someone else to talk to us but did that after we ordered based on what they said. The food was fine but if you aren't going to mark your menu, your staff must be versed but really? Just mark it on the menu.
This was our first visit and it was a total surprise. This was probably the best gluten free burger I've ever had. The view on the lake is awesome and the service was great. I wish I had come to this restaurant sooner. We now have a new favorite restaurant! Definitely five stars!

I was so happy to find King's Arm has a gluten friendly menu and a dedicated fryer!! Plus the burger was incredible!!
Would definitely recommend reservations, as the seating space is small and it can get busy. We had to wait across the street for a couple of bar seats to open up.
The food. Wow, THE FOOD. Yep, it was amazing. We deemed this the favorite meal of our stay in Halifax. Redditors were not wrong with their praise of the establishment. We ended up ordering 3 entrees, two desserts, and several cocktails. We shared the food to sample all the flavors. The flavors were so well balanced. Delicate raw scallops were enhanced but not overpowered by the other ingredients, allowing the sweet, buttery taste to come through. The mackerel with swiss chard was delicious, as was the tuna tartare. You can't go wrong with any of the choices.
They are also accommodating of dietary restrictions, as my daughter has gluten sensitivity. They were able to identify all the gluten items and served the sauce for the mackerel on the side so we could both enjoy the meal.
Watching the bartender up close was a special treat. They make their own in-house flavor infusion mists to enhance the drinks and special care is taken in both the mixing and presentation of each drink.
Great experience. GO!
One of my favorite dinners during our visit to Halifax. My family stayed in the neighborhood and walked here for dinner one night. Fantastic food, drinks, and atmosphere. I also have some dietary restrictions (gluten-free / dairy-free)and they were so kind and willing to accommodate. Would definitely go back next time I visit the area!
I have coeliac disease and have to be totally gluten free Just arrived from Wales uk ,the service was excellent very friendly staff and went though the menu to highlight everything they could do for me anybody coming to Nova Scotia should visit here coffee was amazing what a brilliant start to my holiday!!
Dined on the patio because we had our dog. Servers were friendly, food was wonderful, gluten free options available.

I came here with a group for lunch on the patio. The service was very friendly and helpful. The menu specified which options were vegan and gluten free. Some menu options were both.
Nice place, good music. Gluten-free option. I had a cheesebuger poutine, it was very good! Fries with all the ingredients of a cheeseburger (except the bun) with a cheese sauce. My partner had the Smoked bacon mac and cheese served with toasted buns, delicious.
Wasn’t sure about gluten free options but they had a GF pizza crust that was actually really good! 7.5/10 pizza, dough wasn’t completely cardboard and cheese had a great pull to it. Only downside was the kitchen was a bit slow pushing out food however it was very busy so I won’t hold it against them. Good service, good atmosphere and really good Gf pizza!
Their cider is fantastic, and their food is also super great! Amazing service, great conversation and extremely helpful when it came to the tables gluten intolerance!!
I have celiac disease, and while the menu had nothing that would work for me, the watress most kindly made some adjustments and I had a lovely fish dinner. She was very helpful. I would recommend this charming restaurant. I hope to go again.

One of the best experiences in Halifax restaurants. Certainly the best tasting seafood. I had the risotto and my friend had the chef Bryan scallop both were so delicious and gluten free.
The atmosphere is charming with real candles and stonewalls. The service staff were so friendly and professional. Julia our waitress was courteous and alert.
The menu options seemed somewhat limited and the prices are not cheap.
I will visit again for oysters 🦪
When someone talk about food, and searching a good place, I would personally recommend "The Brixton". Why so ?
Because the food, environment and staff at the restaurant makes your day perfect and money worth spending. The Brixton restaurant is offering real healthy food. Especially if you are looking for "VEGETARIAN" and "GLUTEN-FREE food".

Drinks were great! Ordered the mushroom Bao bun and it was so rich and filling. The sauce legitimately makes you want to lick the plate. The were very accommodating for my gluten-free mom!
The staff there are very friendly and accommodating for people who can't eat gluten, and the food was served very promptly. If you like pub-style food, you'll love the Auction House.
This restaurant was recommended to us several times by locals and did not disappoint! Beautiful setting and decor and excellent food. Chowder was thick with seafood and was gluten free! Beer battered fish was a big hit with the family.
