The Thirsty Palms

We had a lovely dinner of beautifully cooked food on balmy October evening in Palm Springs. The shrimp scampi was a perfect sized portion with plenty of delicious shrimp. The classic pork schnitzel served “French style” was tender and the Dijon mustard sauce and potato salad was a perfect pairing. Gluten free people are not left out here! Chicken schnitzel without the breading was tender and juicy with a fresh tomato marinara sauce. The side salad was dressed with a delicious vinegrette. Our waitress was friendly and attentive and the food arrived soon after ordering. Nothing to fault here, hence the 5 stars!

Some of our dishes were delicious! This review is more about the claim that they PRIDE themselves on gluten free. This would be ok if you just preferred to not eat gluten. But as one member of our party had a celiac allergy we were excited to eat here based on their website and claims. Unfortunately, the only gluten free option was GF bread, and they do not have a separate fryer or grill for fries or bread. There were only a few possible items that were truly gluten free and the server, tho very understanding, wasn’t sure about some of the sauces and food items. In conclusion: this place had yummy options for non-celiac people. Myself and the other person in our group enjoyed our food. But it was disappointing to expect more options based on their website and reviews and show up to having to carefully select and not be able to have the freedom of a carefree brunch.

This place was great! They exceeded my expectations and while they don't advertise gluten free they had options so that I could enjoy my meal both for dinner and for brunch! Our server at dinner was outstanding, truly above and beyond. I'd certainly go back!
