Delicious authentic Columbian food made with love. The beef and chicken Tostons have a wonderful blend of flavours that transports you to another land!! The meat is so tender it melts in your mouth. The toston base is made from a smashed plantain fried to the perfect crispiness (not over cooked or greasy so you can taste the sweetness of the plantain with each crunchy bite!)
I do love a good pastry so I had to try the pan debono: soft round buns with a slight sweet that have a firm surface and warm pillowy interior. The unique texture comes from casava flour, so these buns are gluten free! They are subtly wonderful and best enjoyed with a cup of the fine Columbian coffee they serve.
I was too full to try the empanadas with salsa, so something to look forward to. The meals were well packaged and easy to eat in our car after a hike in the Rouge Park, but it will be much nicer to dine in the colouful interior and enjoy more of Christina's hospitality once COVID restrictions are over. Can't wait to return to try the Arepas!!
