I would have loved to leave a 5-star review—our server was fantastic: warm, attentive, and clearly cared about our experience. The appetizers were also genuinely delicious. However, the way this restaurant handled a gluten allergy specifically celiac disease was deeply disappointing.
We informed the host about the allergy when we arrived, expecting it to be clearly communicated to the kitchen. Despite that, the wrong entrée—one that was not gluten-free was served to my friend with celiac. Unfortunately, they took a bite before we realized the mistake. Our server quickly caught it, removed the dish, and brought the correct one, and we appreciated their fast response.
What was unacceptable was how the manager handled the situation. She came over and simply kept asking, "Is she okay?" even after we explained that this wasn’t a mild intolerance, but a medical condition that requires strict avoidance of gluten. There was no real apology, no acknowledgment of the seriousness of the mistake, and no meaningful follow-up after that brief interaction.
Yes, the restaurant was busy but it’s still an allergy. Celiac disease isn’t something that can be brushed off with a quick “are you okay?” It requires care, attention, and clear communication from both the kitchen and the management.
At a restaurant of this caliber, I expected far better. The manager’s dismissive approach left a bad taste, and unfortunately, it overshadowed what should have been a great dining experience.
