Wow. I was so excited to try Vero Amore. I was astounded by how much our server hates gluten free and was completely unwilling to even discuss options. I asked about sauces for the pasta and she said, “I don’t know what you are allergic to, the description on the menu tells you what is in it” I wound up with gf penne with crushed tomato sauce and baked chicken. I was told I couldn’t have any cheese as it all had gluten. She was aggressively unwilling to help to the point I had to ask for her to get someone else to help me. I didn’t choose to have celiac disease and I know it can be hard for restaurants. I try to ask reasonable questions to stay safe and have never encountered this level of unwillingness to even try to accommodate. I thought going to a local restaurant with gluten free options on the menu would be fun and it turned out to be embarrassing and uncomfortable for our entire party in a way that I have never experienced. I gave one stars because I didn’t get sick. It was flavorless food and the worst service I have ever experienced. Don’t go here. Actually, the bar tender was really nice and the drinks were great. The GM was also really nice when we talked with him before our meal.

Tyler was our server tonight on a Tuesday, my husband’s birthday, and he was amazing and so was the kitchen staff! I have a gluten allergy and they ran out of gluten free pasta and the kitchen didn’t tell him until 10 minutes after we placed our order. But they made us a special gluten free dish and it was amazing! The chicken was so moist: The veggies were deliciously seasoned. And Tyler was so kind to offer us a dessert for the wait and inconvenience. This is my first time her even though I’ve been a Tucsonan for 23 years now and I would highly recommended for great customer service and tasty food. Felt very welcomed here despite my allergy.

Great food, service, atmosphere. It could become addictive. They also are happy to prepare gluten free options. The patio is the place to be!
