The food tasted like food (and that's my highest compliment). I had the Devil's Eggs, which were exactly the right level of mustardy, and the seasonal salad, which was actually seasonal. Use the QR code to see the menu. The cocktail menu is great. I had the daily Old Fashioned, and for desert I asked for something similar with mezcal. The bartender made me a delicious Oaxacan Old Fashioned. I was told by staff that the menu is entirely gluten free: "The only gluten would be in a beer, if you ordered one. There's no gluten in the kitchen."

The Water Bear is Boise’s Best Cocktail Bar…please refer to my expensive alcoholic tendencies as a reference. The vibe is a hipster-chic museum of oddities. The music will leave you grabbing for you SoundHound app. But let’s get to the cocktails….this place is not only the bar, but sets the bar on what is a good cocktail. My mind has been blown away by the mixologist ability to concoct a magical potion that exceeds what you had previously thought was a “great cocktail.” The cocktail menu is constantly changing, so there’s always new things to try. If you’re an OF person, do not miss the OFs of the Day…They have never let me down. The popcorn is to die for with hand made seasonings and the gluten-free menu is as they say “off the chain.” But the best part of Water Bear isn’t the cocktails, it isn’t the food…it’s the people. The owners, bartenders, servers, kitchen staff are the best bunch of people around. I recommend you go just because you’ll want them as your friends.
