Yokohama Ramen Izakaya

I would like to start off by mentioning that I called ahead to see if there were any gluten free options available because my son really wanted to have his 7th birthday dinner here. The menu clearly said that there were gluten free ramen noodles and I was excited to try them and was told that all the broths were gluten free. I asked which appetizers were gluten free and was given a list by our waitress. This included the cucumbers which seemed like a safe bet. They came out and had tempura flakes on them. I then asked for a ramen with the gluten free noodles. I asked if the broth was gluten free and was told they would just use gluten free soy sauce. After the rest of my group had their food a manager came out and informed me that the ramen could not be made gluten free nor could any of the ramens. I asked what could be made gluten free and was told the teriyaki chicken over rice. A few minutes later the chef came out and let me know that the chicken was marinated in regular teriyaki sauce so was also not gluten free but that they could do fried rice for me. At this point everyone at the table was done eating. I’m honestly not sure they can do anything but rice gluten free and having gluten free noodles seems like a very odd choice given that they can’t do anything. I would stay away if you have any allergy concerns as I did not feel like my allergy was anything but an inconvenience. I do not understand the point of offering allergy sensitive options with a complete lack of understanding when it comes to that allergy.

Good option for gluten free ramen. I usually get the miso ramen. Service can be a little slow during busy hours. Ramen there is generally on the saltier side, but still a good option for Wichita.
