I was recommended to go here as a coeliac and wasn’t expecting a buffet style eatery - the food was okay.I went there twice and the first time the hot cabinet had only GF trays of food (which made me comfortable), but then the next day I came for breakfast and they did have one non-gf tray in the same cabinet. This made me uneasy, especially as the tray was the second row in, meaning the spoonfuls of food would have to travel over other gf trays and potentially contaminate them.
With stunning waterfront views and a cool electronic menu, this spot impresses with excellent food and thoughtful dietary options.

Great fresh burgers and friendly staff. Had two rounds because the first burger was so nice
Accommodating of Gluten Free (celiac) for the burgers. Chips are GF but unfortunately cooked in the same fryer as crumbed things.

Have visited 3-4 times just in the past year, always excellent service, yummy cocktails and great food: tasty, high quality meat cooked beautifully that just keeps coming, plus a selection of yummy side dishes. Really appreciate how well they cater for coeliac customers too.

I tried the veggie burger with the gluten-free bun option and it was delicious! My friend had a burger with meat and classic bun and he told me “better than Fergburger in Queenstown”!
Start your day with a view of the lake and mountains, where delicious breakfast and quick service make it a top spot in Taupo.

Went here for mums birthday lunch, everyone's food came out luke warm. My pizza was lacking flavour, it was the tofu one. It was very bland. The calamari my sister got the gluten free version and it was small for the price and lacking flavour. Mums seafood chowder was yummy but not hot and someone else got a cherizo breakfast special that was great value and yummy. They have a huge menu with heaps of gluten free options which is great. The waitress was lovely and very tentative to our table. Would probably go back but would ask for the meal to be hot and wouldn't get a gf pizza!
Just a short walk from the holiday park, enjoy massive, tasty burgers in a lively 1950s atmosphere with fun jukebox tunes.

Giant burgers. It was only 5 dollars extra for fries and canned drink which honestly you don’t need. We got the Carnivore burger and BCR burger with gluten free bun. Atmosphere was 1950s with jukebox playing some fun tunes.
Enjoy a nostalgic Grease atmosphere, refreshing beverages and a cool automobile collection in this fun, all-American diner in Kaikoura.

Went for lunch. When we arrived only one table occupied, but three that needed clearing. Staff chatting in the corner basically ignored us. No indication of whether it was table service or order at counter. Ordered gluten free meal. It seemed okay, but later I had all the symptoms of having been glutened. Probably cross contamination due to poor food handling practices. We won’t be back.
OK I need to start with the positive. The venue was clean and welcoming and seats were available on a Saturday morning at 11am. The wait staff were super attentive and helpful. The reason I say it's only OK, is that as a person whom is food intolerant there were no easily visible options on the menu ie Vegan, Vegetarian, Gluten or Dairy Free. Sorry guys I did expect the suburb of Devonport to be a bit more on to it. Having said that they altered my choosen meal to adapt, but Eggs Benedict is not the same without the sauce!!
Experience top-notch service with thoughtful details and a welcoming vibe, ensuring you have a memorable meal every time.

Thank you to the waitress who realised that when I was halfway through the mud cake that it wasn’t gluten free and immediately voiced her concern, really awesome to see someone so onto it like that and caring
Unique dishes in a lively atmosphere, but service might need a little boost despite the enjoyable vibe and flavors.

Great food, unfortunately only 4x gluten free dishes.
Pat thai was great. Pudding needs work. But will go again. Nice atmosphere friendly staff, seated promptly without a booking, but was forgotten about as 4 staff chatted behind the bar. But redeemed themselves.

Really great dinner tonight at Graze! For $125pp we got the full shebang, and really got our money’s worth. The dishes were all so tasty and each portion was a decent size. Particularly loved the butterfish crudo. They explained each dish in detail and provided gluten free alternatives when required. Their gluten free corn bread was delicious!
A cozy spot with creative dishes, delicious drinks, and a welcoming vibe that turns any visit into a delightful experience.

Thank you for your response Tara, I really appreciate it. I'll amend the scores based on my own (non-coeliac!) experience but leave the original review below to give context to your reply.
I appreciate that mistakes can be made, unfortunately they can have serious consequences but it appears you know that already! Some do not and don't take it seriously and because the effects are delayed (almost exactly 2 hours for my wife, every time it happens) the customer is usually long gone and the business owner is none the wiser.
You also have a frustrated phone message from me waiting for you in the morning (recorded prior to your response) so apologies for that as well!

Coeliacs DO NOT EAT HERE.
Don't label your food as gluten free if you're not sure. And don't advise your customers of gluten free options unless you know what they're talking about.
We just had a lovely Sunday midday snack at the Corner Café. The staff was friendly, service was fast and efficient. The food was correct, and the gluten free selection was especially appreciated. A lot of effort has obviously been put in the decoration and setup. On a sunny day the back garden would be the place to be, especially if your dog is of the party. They have live music inside on a regular basis and a nice terrace at the front. This is a good place for a stop in between Napier and Hastings, especially when you've already been everywhere else and are looking for a little gem of a café.
Vegan delight with bold flavors awaits at this spot, offering must-try dishes like drunken noodles and Thai beef salad.

Amazing atmosphere and incredible service! Catered really well to Gluten Free and was really helpful with picking alternative options. Staff are super friendly and attentive. Plus food was next level ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
A solid Italian restaurant oozing with style.
Nestled in Midland Park, Astoria greets you with a moody space filled with the smells of bread, olive oil, and matured cheeses. The waiters are warm and attentive. You will never feel rushed or forgotten and no ask feels out of place.
The menu has plenty of gluten free options, many of which can be adapted. For example the linguini pawns were served with gluten free penne. However, Astoria cannot guarantee dishes are safe for coeliacs. Unfortunately fresh bread is prepared in a shared cooking environment. The wait staff will ask you if you are coeliac as you place your order.
The food is a modern interpretation of classic Italian flavours. In particular, we would recommend the burrata and beef cheek ragu. The burrata was fresh, delicate, and soft, while the ragu has a strong umami flavour.
The drinks menu will appeal to a wide variety of taste buds, preferences, and ages. You will also find a range of Italian drinks and sprits like the Camperchi Chianti Riserva and Limoncello spritz.
Overall Astoria is a good restaurant. However the menu, although varied, lacks the flare to really wow. It is also a shame that the dishes aren't safe for coeliacs and the only pasta alternative is penne. A fundamental aspect of Italian cuisine is pasta variety which is flattered by only one option for all.

I had the best customer service experience ever here today. I made a mistake and ordered something with bacon despite being Muslim. Totally on me and when I went back to check the menu to see how it happened the staff were AMAZING and understanding! I can’t believe how kind they were. They resolved the issue for me without any extra cost to me and honestly I was just blown away by how amazing they were. 100% I was just dumb and there was no necessity for them to do anything but they did and I will now send every person I meet to eat here 😊 The food is amazing too. They can adjust it for gluten free and halal if you let them know. Definitely go here 👍🏻

10/10 Best tacos in town!! If I could exist solely on them I would. The owner/accountant/chef/front of house (boss lady!) is so super friendly, and very talented. Definitely recommend. Great portion sizes for the price which was super reasonable. Added bonus for me was that they’re gluten free : )

We have been loving the New Yorker hot dogs and ice cream pizzas for a while from the lake front and so stocked to see them expand to a permanent shop in town and now expand to bagels. The great thing as vegans is they have a vegan hot dog and vegan ice cream pizza that is also gluten free. This is a must stop if you are a visitor to town or a local looking for some authentic American hotdogs. The whole family will love it. I ate the tasty food too quickly to take a photo 😂
