We liked everything about this place, the service was lovely and our server was very helpful. They even took our gluten-free order separately, which was fantastic. It may have been an off day for the kitchen staff, as the food did not live up to the service. We ordered a variety of brunch foods, but none were presented well, and looked like they had been reheated which was a shame. Will tru again to see if this was an off day.

Lovely food catered for all our needs including vegan and gluten free. The service from Logan was great and quick. Would definitely recommend and we'll definitely be visiting again

My friends and I booked a table for dinner on Easter Monday while we were staying in Chester for the weekend. The restaurant was lovely and the staff very friendly. However, as were about to order our starters, we were told that a large part of the menu was unavailable. This is only the second time that I have visited one of the Botanist chain and I had the same problem the first time (not in Chester). Whilst I appreciate that we were attending at the end of a busy bank holiday weekend, it seems strange to me that so many of the menu options were unavailable. I would say it was about 40% of the menu was unavailable. The food we did have was delicious and the gluten-free member of our party was very pleased with the cookie dough pudding. We were brought the wrong drink and it took a while to be corrected but, overall, the service we received was good.

Had lunch at this pub for the first time on a recent trip to Chester. It's a former coaching inn, ideally located right in the historic centre, between the town hall and the new market, close to the shops, with the cathedral only a couple of minutes walk away. The outside tables are right next to an ancient Roman column. Although the building is Victorian, the interior has a very contemporary decor and vibe, with comfy plush chairs. The barman was helpful and friendly, and although it was busy and some of the tables were reserved, he found me a nice place near the bar. Good selection of beers, wine and gin (chose a nice Merlot). The lunch menu offered a wide variety of small plates, burgers, and main courses, with plenty of veggie and gluten-free options. I had the slow cooked minted lamb and potato hotpot, served with mixed vegetables. It was piping hot, with really tender meat, and lots of herbs that gave it a delicious flavour. The vegetables were crisp and lightly cooked. Could not resist one of the tempting desserts - a mouthwatering lemon and white chocolate pavlova with raspberry coulis - and a large latte. Overall, an excellent meal, and not too expensive given the quality of the food and the location. Would come again.

Popped in for a drink at lunch while staying in Chester. Staff really friendly and welcoming. Very relaxed atmosphere so decided to eat there on the evening. Food was fantastic, husband is a coeliac but this wasn’t a problem, steak was amazing as were all the sides. Loved the bar. Highly recommend.

The pudding parlour on Chester market is a must when you’re out and about . Gluten and vegan free options the lady was lovely who served us a must on your next visit there near the storyhouse Chester .
