Went here tonight for my sister’s birthday. I managed to drop the (homemade) cake I had for upside down in the box when getting out of the car on the way in 🤦🏼♀️ The staff were amazing at helping me salvage it, we did a pretty good job imo hahaha! I can’t eat gluten and am allergic to chilli and the staff were amazing at helping, so many options and the food was unreal! Once again another wonderful stay. Great location, hotel staff all lovely and friendly. Room spacious and warm and clean. Blackout curtains kept room totally dark. Loved the new winter menu great selection to suit everyone's needs. Breakfast top class selection of food great and it was hot and fresh. Also gluten free table even though we didn't need this. Fresh juice tea coffee and top of range coffee/cappuccino machine. Bread,wheaten,croissants,fresh fruit,jams,marmalade,chocolate spread,hams and meats. Poached eggs,scrambled eggs,black pudding,white pudding,sausages,bacon,mushrooms, beans,potato bread and selection of sauces.

We called in to the Burrendale today for late lunch I am gluten and dairy free and i find it difficult getting food that is suitable for me especially fish and chips with gluten-free batter,so when I asked the lovely lady who served us was there any chance they could do gluten-free fish and chips she said yes and the chef even done me dairy free tartar sauce ,my husband also had the fish and chips and me both said it's a long time since we tested fish that melted in your mouth and the batter was lovely and crispy the two ladies who served us was so helpful friendly and professional we didn't get the first ladies name because she went off duty the second lady who finished our order was called Pauline .. thank you both for the lovely service and compliments to the chef👨🍳

One of our party has gluten allergy, asked before we sat down if they offered gluten free options and were told most dishes could be adapted.
Once it came to ordering it became obvious there was only one gluten free starter option and only two main course options ....waited a long time for food to arrive, even though restaurant was not particularly busy. Food was ok but nothing special. Service was a bit hap hazard. Also children running up and down which didn't make for a pleasant dinning experience.
Won't rush back, unfortunately.

This was probably 3-3.5 rather than a 4 but I could see the potential for greatness. It has the potential to be a fair bit more than it was last night anyway.
Bathrooms were run down and in real need of maintenance and makeover.
Pretty cool vibe in the place though.
I appreciated the gluten free options they had available.
The food ingredients were very tasty. The problem was that my food was sitting waiting under the heat lamp for 10-15 minutes. We were beside the heat lamps and recognised our meal from the start. Because of this, my entire meal was just luke warm. The wedges were quite overcooked and therefore crunchy so I wouldn't recommend them. So it was a very mixed experience.
Bathrooms felt a bit grotty, food was very tasty but barely even warm. I'd also appreciate a bit more clarity on what was gluten free. What will be included what won't if I order the gluten free version of this. A separate gluten free menu would be easily done and would stop a lot of going back and forth to check with chefs.
We would definitely come back here but not in a hurry.

I got the gluten free burger and chips. Clearly nobody who works there has tasted the bap. You can easily steam gluten free baps and then fry them or grill them- it only takes a minute - and you absolutely need to do this in order to make them edible. The gf bap was like eating a stale bap. Absolutely no trouble was gone to to make this a good gf burger. Chips were just average. The dessert was good- the gf chocolate coconut dessert was actually tasty. But I wouldn't go back.
