My favourite place in Newark for delicious, healthy and beautifully prepared food. Gannets provides a great range of hot and cold drinks, gorgeous cakes made on the premises, and wonderful lunches featuring Gannets' famous salads and quiches. A lot of the food is vegetarian or suitable for vegans.
I especially recommend the amazing flapjack, full of sumptuous dried fruits, the gluten free lemon bar and the filled potato skins.
Look out too for the beautiful floral displays in the front window.
There is no ground floor loo, although there is a Changing Places fully accessible loo just across Castlegate at the back of the Registry Office.
A bustling, family-friendly spot known for quick service and a lively atmosphere that's perfect for a casual outing.

Forgot to take pics of the main food, but it was delicious. Gluten free garlic bread with vegan cheese and green olives to start, shared between 2.
Then the veg pizza on a gf base with vegan cheese and a side of coleslaw, whilst my companion left the chicken off his pizza and just had ham and mushroom.
They actually have desserts which are both vegan and gf, though sadly by then I was too full, though choc brownie with ice cream was enjoyed by my companion.
I asked for a decaf, oat or soya latte, and the server, a delightful young chap named Jack, had to nip next door for the milk as they were out, which he not only did with a smile, but comped me the coffee because I had to wait.
The restaurant is overlooking the pool and it's an oasis of calm in the evening, very soothing to look at.
Delicious food, great service with a smile and fantastic attitude, plus a lovely view. 100% recommend.
A great spot with a nice vibe, where a unique gluten-free menu sets it apart, though service can vary.

We only stayed for one night and had an evening meal, and breakfast in the restaurant. We were served by a lovely lady called Simmone, she was very cheerful and friendly, nothing was too much trouble. However, I am a coeliac and found the menu very limited for choice. I couldn't understand why a chain of restaurants couldn't offer a gluten free roll? At least I could have had a burger and chips instead of a chicken breast which was unfortunately over grilled and very dry. In contrast, the breakfast menu was excellect. Another member of staff called Chloe who had very good knowledge of allergies and food intolerance, greeted us with a smile and was friendly when we turned up for breakfast. An excellent front of house who offered me a fresh cooked breakfast, which I did decline as each dish had it's own serving spoons. If it hadn't been for the lack of choice on the menu for evening GF meals, I would have given 5 stars.
Charming little café in Newark, known for its cozy vibe, great service, and dog-friendly atmosphere—perfect for a relaxing break!

Gorgeous little cafe in the heart of Newark, great service, great atmosphere and some good gluten free options! Had the stifado (beef stew) and took a GF cannoli pastry to go, both of which were absolutely beautiful. Would definitely recommend for GF and non-GF and will be returning in the future.
Bonus point for being dog friendly!
