This review is about the location in Southside.
There's a tl;dr at the end.
I did take-away so it was a limited atmosphere experience. Seemed like a normal kind of diner, just more brown and wooden?
I was VERY excited when I learned they make gluten free waffles (I have Celiac disease). It's only for the "design your own" section, at least when ordering online. Not for the specials. You also can't specify decaf for any of the coffee drinks (I ordered the signature drink that was supposed to have hazelnut, vanilla, and maple flavor with foam on top). But I figured I could deal with full caf for a day, and if I happened to get there before they made it, I could always ask them to do decaf instead.
The order was supposed to be ready to be picked up at 16 past the hour. I got there shortly after that and it wasn't ready. The place was basically empty. As far as I could hear and see there were two tables there, two servers, and two kitchen staff. They were all sort of meandering around slowly, and when one server finally came to greet me, they weren't pleasant at all. I've been a server multiple times in different places, so I know how hard it can be and always try to give the benefit of the doubt, so I was friendly to them and told them my name and what I was there for. They had me sign a receipt (we'd already tipped 15-20% online, our usual for take-away), then set it down and just walked away.
Another server came out and started prepping a to-go hot drink and I asked if that was mine and if so, could they make it decaf please, since there wasn't a way to request that online? The server just said "it's not yours," and finished what they were doing. Apparently didn't tell the other server. I waited another 10 minutes before the other server brought out the bag and said "here you go!" (the friendliest anybody had been). I said I still had a drink. The signature. Then I remembered we'd ordered it separately, trying to do it decaf, so I apologized and explained it was a separate check. They sighed and started prepping it and I quickly asked about the decaf, explaining the order issue. They didn't respond, but I could tell they were unhappy about it. I felt badly, but I had been very friendly, and when I was a server I was happy just to have someone be friendly and kind to me. Nobody ever tipped me on take-away orders. I only had 45min to have lunch with my spouse IF the food had been ready on time, which it wasn't, and now because of the very long wait I was going to have about 10min with him. I just wanted to get out of there, so I wasn't paying much attention while the server made my drink. I thanked her when I got it, and rushed out.
It wasn't until I tasted it a few minutes later when I was at my spouse's office that I realized it was plain coffee/espresso. I don't even know if it was decaf. But it tasted terrible and had none of the things from the signature drink in it I'd paid for. I wasn't going to go back, obviously, because we had no time at that point, and it looked like it was just those employees on the floor. So my spouse drank it instead because he can drink motor oil if it smells like coffee.
Tl;Dr It was super depressing atmosphere inside, servers were rude, food wasn't ready in time, so it ruined rare lunch date with spouse, and I was given plain coffee instead of signature drink I paid for. Lame. 2/5 stars. Only gets even the 2 stars because of the gf waffles, which I haven't been able to have since developing Celiac disease after a major surgery. Those were tasty.
Enjoy a cozy brunch spot with incredible, fluffy waffles, unique offerings, and a welcoming vibe perfect for families and friends alike.

Highly recommend the Sacre Bleu-berry French toast! Had a delicious house made peach cream cheese which was unique.
There are a lot of options whether you're vegetarian, gluten-free, etc. The inside was a little dated, but nothing to be turned away from.
Service was warm, friendly, and attentive. Overall a solid spot for breakfast, can't see going wrong with anything on the menu here.
This cozy deli-style cafe shines with made-from-scratch breakfast offerings and a focus on fresh, quality ingredients that keep customers coming back.

Quality, Made-From-Scratch Breakfast
Bluebird Kitchen is a charming deli-style cafe serving high-quality, made-from-scratch breakfast dishes. They offer a variety of options, including oatmeal, pastires, egg sandwiches, and even a gluten-free hash.
While the hash was a bit saltier than expected on our recent visit, our family who frequents here said that otbwas not normal. Given the overall quality and focus on fresh ingredients, I'm willing to chalk it up to a one-time anomaly.
If you're looking for a delicious and quick breakfast option, Bluebird Kitchen is definitely worth a try.
Enjoy a vibrant atmosphere and inventive brunch options in this neighborhood gem, complete with a creative menu and tasty beverages.

Amazing as a gluten allergic person to be able to eat biscuits again. I don't know how many years it's been since I've had some. Obviously, with it being gluten-free, it is a little dry, but I still enjoyed it. I've heard the real biscuits are amazing. The hot chocolate did not disappoint, but the home fries did π«€
Prepare for long lines and hungry customers that will cut in line like they don't have manners.

I have loved this spot for years. They always have a vegan and gluten free option which I appreciate. The decor is funky- modern Victorian. And I LOVE that they are open late. Iβve popped in here many nights in between night class and overnight work shifts to enjoy a drink and just relax.
This spot offers a cozy vibe with unique vegan dishes, standout rotating donuts, and a chance to meet fellow travelers over great coffee.

I recently had a severe diet change- no eggs, dairy and gluten. It is hard to go out to eat and I really miss the social interactions that happen around a dining table. My boyfriend and I were coming to Pittsburgh for the Steelers game and I found this little gem. The GF/V donut was to die for- so delicious. I didn't know what to expect with a vegan egg sandwich, since I do eat meat- but WOW. The tofu scramble was so delicious and well seasoned. The GF bread was hearty and delicious. My boyfriend had a regular egg, cheese and bacon sandwich on ciabatta and said it was phenomenal. I am so grateful to establishments like this that have allergy friendly food- it makes dining out fun again and breakfasts have always been my favorite meal. Thank you, we will be back!
Enjoy a unique ambiance with delicious options and a focus on clean, inviting spaces that invite you to unwind while indulging.

Iβll preface by saying I have a severe gluten intolerance, and the staff was extremely knowledgeable and accommodating. They cleaned all the equipment and changed their gloves before making my order, which put my mind at ease.
I ordered the savory classic crepe with buckwheat, I believe someone else posted a photo of it already. Wow, it tastes amazing and fills you up but not in a bad way. The fresh salad is a breakfast addition as well. The coffee, lattes and cappuccinos are also very well made.
The atmosphere is very relaxing, nice decor, and the shop is well kept and clean. Definitely give Melβs a try when youβre in the Burgh!

There was a bit of wait for a party of 5 on Saturday brunch in that area. There's was the lowest. We lucked out...was seated in less than 20 min. Loved the food, although not many options for gluten free food. Their coffees were splendid. Especially the Turkish coffee.
Freshly made arepas steal the show here, with a tasty twist that keeps visitors coming back for more.

So good. Leo was super friendly and provided great service. He explained that the arepas are made fresh every day. And bonus for us, gluten free without any modifications. We are planning on coming back very soon to try more of the menu.

I love it here! They have a big communal table with outlets for working on a laptop, ceramic mugs for in-house orders, and a nice selection of baked goods, including gluten free! Thereβs also a bunch of outdoor seating, including a courtyard, which is so rare in Pittsburgh. Throughout the week they have various food trucks that park outside so you can have a little lunch there too. The staff is kind and efficient. Drinks are quality + they always have a rotating menu of seasonal syrups. I usually get the chai latte, which is a nice balance of warm, spicey + tannin-y (some placesβ chai lattes are either really hot spicy without much milkiness or depth, or they just taste like liquid oatmeal because the only spice used is cinnamon). Parking is easy. I just feel like theyβve thought of everything, which is what I want in a coffee shop. I travel 10 minutes from a neighboring suburb just to come here once, sometimes twice a week. Keep up the great work yβall!

Great place to work on a weekday morning. I really really really REALLY wish gluten free bread was an option for the toasts on the menu. It would be an easy way to open up so many more options for those that are gluten free.
I couldn't have been more impressed with Ka- Fair. I am simp for a cute coffee shop but this one takes the cake- the Ka- Fair crepe cake with a raspberry reduction sauce to be exact. Delicious perfection. I also had the pleasure of enjoying a variety of other unique sweet treats. One example would be the gluten free honey corn cake. A must try for sure. Not only are the treats enough to keep me coming back but the coffee, oh, the coffee! As my boyfriend put it, "The best coffee I've had in Pittsburgh." and I wholeheartedly agree. The "Freshspresso" made with fresh squeezed orange juice and espresso was truly one of the most unique, aesthetically pleasing, and delicious beverages I've had. The warm, gentle sweetness of the owner can be felt in every inch, every sip, and every bite. Pittsburgh should feel lucky to be home to such a gem. I know I do.

We got a variety of biscotti which were delicious, crispy and lightly sweet and perfect dunked in a cup of coffee! We also tried the nut roll - I found that ok - it had too many raisins for my liking. We also tried these coconut gluten free almond cookies which were delish. Weβll be going back for more biscotti and to try their pizza and ricotta pie.
Always an amazing meal & delicious drinks!. Top notch gluten free options.

Very friendly staff. I usually get a maple latte or the cold brew. The coffee is always good and they always have a large selection of baked goods and coffee flavors. On the weekends they have amazing donuts/cinnamon rolls. My husband also likes the gluten free snacks they have. This is our go to coffee shop. We also love that it's a local business.

We are glad to live within walking distance from here and are pleased to see it busy nearly every time we pass. The coffee and atmosphere is nice. Weβd love to see more gluten free options!
This place is absolutely delicious. Their macarons are very flavorful (and gluten-free) and their coffee was delicious as well. The only reason I did not give 5 stars is the cost. It is quite expensive but worth treating yourself!
Everyday Cafe is lovely and well worth a visit! The coffee was rich, smooth, and very hot (I had the dark roast drip) and I sampled a gluten-free berry pastry that was delicious! I look forward to sampling more of their menu which includes breakfast and lunch. The space is large, with comfortable seating, good lighting, and plenty of on-street parking. Service was efficient and friendly. I had a terrific experience and look forward to returning!
Tons of gluten free options (including the best gf bread in Pittsburgh), really tasty food, and the staff leaves me the cutest drawings on my orders. It's pricey but sometimes i need a treat haha.

I am so happy to finally have a go-to place for bagels and coffee (among other treats) in Pittsburgh! The staff is fantastic; so helpful, welcoming and accommodating. Their selection of bagels and HOMEMADE cream cheese is outstanding and their menu is also inclusive for those who might be gluten free with their βbowlβ options. Their products are incredibly fresh and they brew local La Prima coffee in addition to having other local baked goods available for purchase. Canβt say enough good about Brooklyn Bagel at Arsenal - such a truly special place to have in Pittsburgh!!

I was looking for a gluten free snack. I was led to a gluten-free package of cheese, crackers and fruit. I did not eat the crackers but gave them away to another diner. In addition I had a cafe Americano to drink which was lovely. The waitstaff there was wonderful in helping me choose something. Most Starbucks do not have anything gluten free except for a banana and a rice dream bar. I'll be back.
This is my wife and I's favorite place to eat. Excellent beer selection, gluten free options, good food and atmosphere, friendly staff and ownership, etc.
Food was greatly improved since our last visit -- happy to see new menu additions too. Gluten-free Cobb Salad was delicious as was the Portobello Panini.
Biddle's is the hub of the Wilkinsburg and Regent Square area, playing host to people from all walks of life. It seems to present itself as a venue for the lesser represented groups in society, but is welcoming to all. It has an endless assortment of teas on the large chalkboard menu behind the counter, as well as coffees, from the everyday brews to artisan brews.
They have recently changed up a lot of their food items, but now sell a wide assortment of baked goods from local bakeries, including gluten-free baked options. They also have a variety of sandwiches, bagels, salads, humus and even organic sausages for sale.
It is a great place to find out about local/ community events, from yard sales, to flea markets, art shows, music events etc. Moreover Biddle's also hosts open mic nights, ukulele nights, and poetry readings.
The good: Nice music! They had some Thelonious Monk was playing, comfortable enough, pretty good espresso
The bad: they have some expensive gluten free pastries that are hands down the most vile combinations of bread and sugar that I have ever tried to consume, me and my partner got a cinnamon roll and a donut and both were basically inedible. They were impenetrably dense and dry. The icing was a sloppy mess. We threw them away and let the barista know but weren't offered a refund or an apology. It's unconscionable to sell things that are that gross.
And they've intentionally covered over all the power outlets. Why? I've never been in a coffee shop that is obviously a study spot that explicitly doesn't let you charge your laptop.
I get the impression of stinginess that comes at the expense of a comfortable and pleasant space for costumers
Absolutely looooved this coffee shop!! I used to stop in nearly every day for their gluten free selections. Both the drinks and food were phenomenal. Definitely stop in if you are visiting the area!!
New to us type pastries. We bought a large variety for our dinner party to try. The staff was helpful and kind. While the pastry baskets were well marked when making the selections, no labels were on the packaging so by the time we got home we weren't completely sure of what we had tried. (Note we did have a gluten free guest and they had one cake option for her that she very much enjoyed)
