I have only been here once. Ordered GF fish and chips and GF mac and cheese. Tasted 3 beers.
The Gluten Free fish was great, especially since you can't get it anywhere else. Great GF batter over lake Superior Whitefish.
The mac and cheese was top notch. Lots of flavor and served hot. Great crunch topping.
The beer was the best. I had an Octoberfest that was spot on. Each of the other dark beers I tasted were delicious.
The service was excellent. Very polite and helpful staff.
The atmosphere is the best. The old stain glass windows and high ceiling make it very special.
A nice clean and cool place to tip a couple of beers and have a good meal.
I love their coffee drinks and food. Mostly I love the people because they’re friendly, make thoughtful suggestions, and ask about allergy info when I order gluten free bread. They also partner with other local businesses, like Benny’s Bakery, to provide a big variety of baked goods and more. Great community spot!
We love Cottage Inn! They have a variety of options for all pizza lovers - gluten free to vegan! We also appreciate their generosity in giving back to the local community. Thank you for helping our school host a nice dinner!
My grandson has celiac (gluten intolerance). When I called, Mac’s assured me that staff was trained to handle food allergies. They certainly were! First, they had a large choice of options. But I was also very impressed at the care that the staff took to make sure he had nothing that had even a touch of contact with gluten. Mac’s was the most careful restaurant we’ve eaten at and my Grandson said he had the best hamburger (and gf bun) that he’s ever had anywhere. I highly recommend Mac’s for anyone who has any type of food allergy.
Excellent service. My husband had a calzone -- it was huge and delicious. I had a gluten free pizza. It was delicious. The only reason for the 4 stars is the gluten free crust was limp. I think it should have been cooked longer so the crust could have been crispy. It was difficult to pick up a piece. I had to use both hands to keep it from falling apart. But it was delicious and loaded with the toppings. Yum! The staff were super nice.
Don't miss out on this sweet little ice cream shop. They carry rotating flavors of dole whips, and have one of the best chocolate malts I've ever had. The owner is friendly and seems enthusiastic about the product she serves. She's always open to suggestions and happy to chat about the local scene and events. She caters to those who might have dietary restrictions so that they can have a sweet treat too, such as dairy free and gluten free folks. I recommend this place for its delicious ice cream and cozy atmosphere (and DO NOT skip out on the dole whip PLEASE!)
We took a group of 20 kids for a field trip, and it was spectacular. Coming into the store I first noticed how clean and organized it was. Everyone was so friendly, and helpful. They had a number of activities for the kids to do. I can't wait to go back and check it out again with my own kids. I absolutely recommend stopping by this wonderful shop! They have so many options, including some nostalgic candies, and gluten free candies.
Overall, I think the general rating would be fine. It being a four, but the thing that bumped this to a five star for me is that this, Walmart has the best gluten-free selection out of all of the Walmarts in our area. They even have a actual section of the store labeled gluten-free, it would be really nice if they caught up with Kroger and had a little gluten-free item to stick on the tags for things that are safe for people with celiac, but they have a lot of affordable products that are still pretty good for people who need to eat gluten-free and that’s still really nice. A lot of people don’t realize it but Walmarts are very hit. Or miss. Like some Walmarts have almost nothing that is gluten-free at all. And some Walmarts actually have an amazing selection.
Now onto my review of the store in general:
-It’s usually pretty clean.
-Sometimes they have some really great sales or neat things on clearance.
-It’s generally pretty well stocked
-every once in a while it seems to be a little bit understaffed.
-The staff have always been nice to me. But I have seen a couple people get really annoyed when people are not nice to them and well they haven’t been outright rude. They were not welcoming that kind of treatment which is fair.
The pharmacy is also really nice like really well staffed polite people, well stocked. Actually if I really need some thing and I can’t find it anywhere else in town that’s almost always where they have it. This location is a bit of a drive for me and I only go out to Walmart like once a month. So it’s not my primary pharmacy but I know that if I really need some thing that’s where I should go. I believe Walmart Pharmacy also fills out pet prescriptions, which is pretty awesome and can be more affordable than getting it from a lot of vets and stuff. I have seen information about it online but I haven’t actually tried it at this location yet.
Gwen made us the most delicious cake for our wedding (white cake with Bavarian créme and strawberries)! I still can't believe how beautiful it was and how perfectly she captured our tropical theme. Our gluten free guests greatly appreciated the GF cupcakes she made for us as well.
Excellent service and excellent food. Great omlette for me and perfectly cooked waffle for my husband. The bonus was gluten free toast for me! Yay! This place is a winner!
My daughter and daughter-in-law both have Celiac's disease. So, no gluten. We have ordered the Gluten-free Chocolate Swiss Roll twice now. It is SO delicious and moist. People would not know that it is gluten-free! Amber is so great about getting the cakes to us really quickly. Love the cake, love the bakery!! Thank you, Amber.
