We ate lunch at The Black Olive today and had such a wonderful experience. Chef Alfredo made some delicious food and we enjoyed every bite! The Gluten Free cheese cauliflower crust appetizer was so delicious and then we tried 3 different salads (house, Caesar and berry bliss), all tasted scrumptious! The lemon piccata chicken dish served over zucchini noodles was wonderful and I definitely would order it again! For dessert, we had tiramisu and a gluten free carrot cake and they both were so amazing!!! Both of these desserts are made in house and I would highly recommend both, especially the carrot cake! George, our server, did an incredible job! if you are looking for good food, go to The Black Olive in downtown Johnson City! You will be glad you went! We loved the food so good, my friends and I are planning to host our high school reunion there in November!
Set in a charming old remodeled home, this spot offers a home-style atmosphere with multiple cozy rooms and wheelchair and stroller accessibility. Friendly staff enhance the experience, making it a beloved destination for those seeking delicious gluten-free options in a welcoming, small-town setting.

This is by far the best breakfast restaurant in the Tri-Cities region. As you can see from my photos, the food is consistently prepared and presented. We go there frequently. The establishment is owned by three local sisters ๐ฉโ๐งโ๐ง, and at least one is on location at all times.
Atmosphere is that of a popular restaurant in a small town. You can expect to wait to be seated, but we always think it's worth it. Longest I've waited is 40 minutes, but that is at peak time on a Saturday. Typical time is about 15-20 ๐ minutes for a party of 4.
Coffee โ is hot and served in large mugs. It's good, and they have sugar, sweeteners, and flavored cream and half-&-half on the table. Ice water ๐ง is always ๐งcold.
Recommendations: omelets are my favorite choice, I can't resist the Fajita Chicken Omelet, another great choice is the Spinach Omelet. Upgrade the toast to a single pancake ๐ฅ, and if you're looking for a real treat, go for the pumpkin pancake ๐ฅ (see video below). They have gluten-free pancakes available, too. 100% Maple syrup is available for an extra charge if you're ๐ a maple syrup kind of person. Standard syrup comes with all pancakes served.
The Big Breakfast or Old Timer's breakfast are your classic style country cooking. ๐ณ๐ฅ
Parking ๐ ฟ๏ธ can be an issue, I usually park down the street toward the downtown area and walk up. Building is wheelchair โฟ & stroller ๐คฑ accessible.
Thanks for reading this, and enjoy Jonesborough. โค๏ธ

It took me way too long to realize that this place existed!
I'm a Jonesborough native and I haven't always enjoyed the local coffee selection, so that's had me mostly doing my own at-home espresso. But these guys are out here doing the Lord's work with their fantastic craftsmanship.
Another huge plus is that they have Care's Creamery ice cream and gluten free waffle cones. For those like me that are gluten-ly challenged, this is kind of a huge deal.
One of the other things I've noticed is a bit different, is the layout is a bit challenging to navigate. It's not a huge deal once you know what it is, but at first it can be pretty confusing for a newcomer.
The shop itself is located in a pretty thin space, with seating available at 1-2 small tables on the sidewalk, or at an upstairs loft area.
The loft area is cool, but it's also very very quiet. So maybe not an ideal space for a private conversation. But since I've mostly just used headphones while I worked there, it hasn't been a big deal for me.
One other consideration is the wifi setup. I think it could be simplified and clarified a bit. I use my own hotspot for security purposes, but that's something else others might like to know ahead of time.
Others here have also mentioned the hours differing from Google. So that can also be a bit confusing, as well.
(Their Instagram is the most up to date, I've noticed.)
All in all, I am so excited for these guys to be in downtown. ๐ฅ Come out and support them, while also getting the best coffee and ice cream in the area.
This cozy pizzeria's recently remodeled dining area enhances its laid-back charm, creating a welcoming atmosphere. The staff are friendly and professional, and the place offers gluten-free options with fresh ingredients, making it a great choice for those seeking gluten-free dining.
