Excellent. The person managing the restaurant offered us the formula which is suitable for a gluten-free diet. She even took the time to check the ingredient list of her almond milk for the smoothie. The staff was very friendly, it makes you want to go back. The salad was very good! Thank you.
Food very good, but the service was a little slow - but was very relaxed, so perfect for a long easy meal. Catered for two veggies and a coeliac without a problem, and without the sniffiness you often find in good restaurants in France.
Talented chefs whip up beautifully presented dishes bursting with fresh flavors, making it a top spot for travelers.

Our group of four turned up near close and were still offered a table with out reservations. My friend is celiac and the staff checked with the chef on available options.
The food was the best we have tasted in 2 weeks in France. Bursting with Fresh flavours and beautifully presented our meals arrived in minutes. The waiter was very polite and accommodating. He explained all the dishes available.
Would recommend to all future travellers.

A delightful restaurant in the charming town of Saumur, run by a fresh, friendly and exceptionally talented team.
Food was exquisite, with a depth of flavour and creativity the belies it's humble price-point. Perfectly paired local wines sealed the deal.
Great food, great service, great cute little restaurant. Deserving of its 5 star status.
The knowledgeable staff were also able to advise in French and English on gluten free options (almost everything was or could be adjusted to be GF and we saw great communication between front of house and kitchen in the topic of "sans gluten"). They took care and were happy to accommodate.
The dark cracker-like thing atop my wife's lamb was a buckwheat cracker (gluten free). It disguised the amazing candied lamb shoulder beneath!! My steak was perfectly cooked and our entrees were wonderful. Dessert was a real treat too!!
This place is actually worth a detour if you're staying elsewhere in the Loire... Treat yourself to a (reasonably priced) meal here and a stroll through the town and up to the castle for a fantastic view. You won't regret it!!
Very good restaurant whose cuisine was very kind to adapt to my dietary restrictions (no gluten, no lactose, no tomatoes...). Very friendly, efficient and dynamic service and welcome!
Enjoy homemade fries and a light veggie burger in a cozy spot with great desserts, perfect for a relaxed Friday evening out!

Quality meal. The fries are homemade and the burger bun comes from a bakery (which is nice). The burger's vegetable patty was good and very light (unlike some burgers where sometimes it's the opposite). The chocolate cake is very good! (And gluten-free for the intolerant, please note). We came with friends on a Friday evening, no wait, and the staff was very nice.
We will come back !
Expect an exceptional dining experience with diverse options, a vibrant atmosphere, and a buzz that makes reservations a smart move.

One of the best meals we have eaten, gluten free dishes available for all three courses. Really nice knowledgeable staff. Gets busy so booking advisable. Did get a little warm. Can't recommend highly enough.

Wow! This restaurant gets better every time I have lunch there. This is the ideal place to relax over creative and delicious cuisine after a morning in Saumur. Be aware though, for most of the year reservations are absolutely necessary.
The food is amazing. They have at least one vegetarian selection and one fish. The food is prepared and presented with exquisite care.
The fact that the vegetarian option on the daily menu was also gluten free is amazing.
The wine list is encyclopaedic and I have never had a disappointing aperitif, main course, or dessert wine.
L'Essential had a Michelin mention, but it is a crime that it does not have 2 stars.
I highly recommend this place. It is always booked in advance as the locals know they are on to a good thing.
Very warm welcome. Excellent cuisine with a beautiful presentation. Very good time spent with friends. The chef also took care to respect a gluten problem. We will come back to that…
