Lovely and cozy eatery serving a variety of classic American and fusion fare, with a wide selection of great vegan and/or gluten-free options. I visited this location for brunch and got their sweet potato skillet, which included a generous helping of brown rice mixed with sauteed kale and sweet potato, then topped with a beautiful poached egg. The meal was simple, yet so incredibly tasty.
While their food is delightful, what has made Busboys & Poets a long-time DC favorite and cultural hub is its ambiance. It's one of the main "cool" places in the city, with its relaxed vibes, open mic poetry nights, and adorable little shop featuring small artists from across the District. The K Street location also features a lovely little bar serving both caffeinated and alcoholic beverages, which is a delightful spot to sit if you just want to enjoy a drink or casual meal. The entire staff is super friendly, so sitting at the bar is a surefire way to have a delightful conversation with the bartender, as well as to people watch or just soak in the vibes.
A lively spot known for its delicious chicken and waffles, vibrant atmosphere, and a wide menu that's perfect for brunch enthusiasts.

It's good, very heavy, southern. The place is really about the fried chicken which is awesome. However, they recently raised prices to a ridiculous level. Minimum $20 cocktails, apps, and the desserts are all $18. The fried chicken is $36 and is the cheapest entree. I'm sorry, but $18 for a slice of pie is out of control. It's nice, but it's still a fried chicken place.
Love the gluten-free options, hate that our party of 4 had 2 apps, 3 cocktails, 4 entrees, and 1 dessert total, and it was nearly $500.
Enjoy a lively atmosphere with great cocktails, attentive service, and delicious dishes that offer flexibility for unique dietary preferences.

We really enjoyed our experience here. With our allergies (gluten and dairy) the staff was attentive and flexible with our needs. It’s always appreciated people know what is in the dishes they are making, and we were either redirected to other choices or a modification can be made.
The deviled eggs were prepared without dairy (in the mousse) and they were still delicious. Green beans and sweet potatoes were paired with our steaks and they amazing.
We also enjoyed our cocktails — Manhattan Noir — which were prepared perfectly, and topped with three Luxardo cherries.
Atmosphere was great as well. The boardwalk area is fun and vibrant. The Grill makes an excellent choice for a higher end meal in this area.
Charming spot with a great vibe, known for fantastic food, unique drinks, and accommodating various dietary preferences, perfect for a special outing!

Fantastic food and people!! Busy night and the food quality is beyond amazing. They have lots of gluten free options and even served gluten free bread with butter upon request. The service was a bit chaotic because of it being so busy and possibly under staffed. We ended up waiting a long time after the meal to pay our bill and the bill had an error on it, so be sure to check it! That being said, the wait staff were very kind and helpful! Will definitely be back :)
Expect a mixed experience with unique dishes that shine, but be prepared for potential reservation hiccups and slow service.

Such a beautiful restaurant, really a lovely setting - our Book Club of seven people was really looking forward to it. Our server, Jason, did a great job with our group, and tried hard to find something I could eat. I think everyone else's food was excellent - I wouldn't know because there was almost nothing I could eat that did not contain gluten, even though many items are listed as gluten-free. There is a very small note at the bottom of the menu that modifies that anything is gluten free. Also, our runner "auctioned" our dishes when we were served - had no idea whose food was whose. The music at lunch-time was ridiculously loud, with the effect that everyone in the restaurant had to shout, making the noise level uncomfortable. Note that 6/7 loved their food. And my citrus salad was delicious, but certainly not a full lunch for me. Surely the menu should be labeled differently to be accurate.
