Weak selection for ANYONE with dietary restrictions. As half of America is diabetic, or well on their way, not having a good low carb selection seems counter intuitive. Especially for a health conscious clientele. And gluten free, forget about it. No gluten free products to speak of there. Trader Joe's, this is why Costco is a faaaar better option. They have great selections of sugar free, low carb, and gluten free products.

The store is clean and well stocked, They have some interesting finds that other area stores don't have, but in other areas they have a much more limited selection. Like there's more Progresso soup than I've ever seen anywhere (and in some bizarrely redundant flavors - who needs 6 kinds of vegetable beef soup?) and some cool yogurt that I've never seen before, but then their options for like, breakfast cereal or health/body care are maybe half of what you'd find at Kroger or Meijer. So it's definitely an interesting place and you can find some new favorites there, but don't go there expecting to shop your whole grocery list, as you'll be quite disappointed. It's too far of a drive from most places in the city to be anything more than a "once every few months" trip to stock up on things like interesting frozen meals or Bonne Maman guava preserves. It's kind of like going to Whole Foods or Fresh Market but with more mainstream items.
One other thing that I noted in my two trips there was that it wasn't particularly great for gluten free items. Kroger and Meijer definitely have more of a selection of packaged GF foods. (And interestingly, Walmart has a lot more GF foods than you'd think.)
Overall I definitely don't hate it, it's really pretty and interesting, it's just not a one-and-done shopping experience, because you'll still need to shop elsewhere to get a lot of things you like.
Discover a charming spot with a farm-to-table vibe, fresh herbs, and a cozy patio perfect for relaxing and kid-friendly fun.

If you haven’t visited Haymarket on River Road yet, you’re truly missing out on one of Louisville’s most delightful spots! This place strikes the perfect balance between charming and chic, with a farm-to-table atmosphere that’s both welcoming and stylish. The real highlight? They grow their own herbs and flowers, making everything feel incredibly fresh and personal. From the moment you step in, you’re surrounded by rustic wooden shelves filled with freshly baked bread, gluten-free pasta, artisanal olive oils, and other handpicked local goodies.
What really stands out is how affordable everything is, especially considering the quality! You can enjoy a sandwich or salad, knowing it was made fresh that morning with ingredients sourced directly from their garden. And if you’re looking to unwind, they even host outdoor yoga sessions near their cozy coffee shop—a perfect blend of relaxation and great coffee.
Whether you’re stopping by for fresh groceries, a quick bite, or just to soak in the ambiance, Haymarket is sure to become a favorite!
Good prices and they mark their gluten free options! Also, they sell locally grown goods! Great place to shop!
