not gluten free friendly. Has a gf crust, but uses the same sauce and ladle and smears the sauce with the spoon with both gf and regular pizzas. If you have severe reactions to gluten would not recommend, but it has been a little bit since I've been in. I only have mild reactions and the pizza is good but if you have celiacs or an allergy please be careful and make sure to ask them to use a different spoon and new sauce container!
A rough start with a rude host quickly turned around thanks to attentive managers and amazing servers, making the overall experience memorable.

Our experience started off very rough with the manager, Jimeal being rude once we arrived at the host stand. We called yesterday, although we know you don't take reservations we just wanted to give the heads up we were coming. She told us "that don't matter" after we mentioned the phone call, Jimeal told us she won't pull our tables together for our party and the wait will be an hour and a half. We have no problem waiting, we even came earlier because that was expected. The blonde hostess in the cheetah print stated that there would be three servers needed for our party and the hostess in green asked how large the party was, the other hostess stated 24 and the hostess in green stated "yikes" right in front of us. Since we are such a large party we wanted to be as pleasant as possible but the attitude we received from the front staff made the experience less than ideal. My sister talked to the red head manager, Alex, and she was great. She apologized for the experience we had when we first walked in and said she would work on getting us sat soon. The other manager, Jeff, also checked in on us during our wait in the lobby to make sure we were doing okay. Our experience from talking to Alex and Jeff was positive all the way through the end.
Our servers Miracle and Monica were EXCEPTIONAL and our food was great! We were checked on by them often and never went with an empty glass or bread basket. We made great conversation with them as well and made up for the bad interaction when we first walked in. I have a gluten allergy and the servers were very accommodating and made sure everything was perfect! It is a long family tradition of ours to come to this restaurant for christmas and we did not want to come back next year because of the initial experience, but our servers changed our minds and if we ever come back we will have to have them as our servers again. I just wish we didn't start off in an unwelcoming environment.
Great vibe with efficient service, unique ordering system, and solid prices make it a go-to spot for a casual hangout.

Friendly staff, nice environment, pizza, sandwiches, pasta, salads, spirits + gluten free options. This post is from a west coaster who would visit this establishment again. 5 pizza's & two salads fed 12 adults, Marion Deluxe and Marions Super Cheese were great choices with the normal pepperoni pizza & Cheese pizza - 4 kids, only $108.00
Celebrate special events with exceptional service, a variety of beautifully cooked meals, and a scenic outdoor view in the heart of downtown Dayton.

My partner and I went to celebrate Valentines early. We made a reservation in advance and had zero issues the entire experience.
BUT YOURE HERE FOR THE DETAILS so lets lay them out.
1) We immediately were seated with no wait thanks to the reservation
2) Their setup is different than normal resturaunts in that the waitress brings you the menus not the person that seats you so getting the menus did take a second but that wasnt an issue for us.
3) As a person with a gluten allergy/celiacs the online menu was more helpful than the in-person menu but the waitress was super helpful/kind.
4) We got the fries/frittes - THE DILL KETCHUP IS THE BOMB, if you dont like truffles then you wont like the aoli. The fries are the small shoestring kind so they are super crunchy and not oily. You get a whole bucket of them which we demolished.
5) I will preface saying Roost is not about BOLD flavors their style is more enhancing and pairing the natural flavor of things. This is not going to be like Sueno (high end bold latin). Their food is complex but natural italian inspired.
6) My partner got the Veal and potatos and I got the chicken with GF raveoli.
7) I tried his dish and it was AMAZING. Cooked perfectly, amazing natural flavors with complexity. The tiny onions were adorable and delish. 100% will come back for this dish alone.
8) Initially the waitress forgot about my allergy so they had to redo my dish but she was so sweet about it. They redid my dish in less than 10 minutes which was shockingly quick. Chicken was moist but skin was crispy. The raveoli were slightly better than Aldi GF raviolis (my GF people will know this is a big deal) and the sauce was light but still flavorful. Plenty of sauce for everything.
9) We thought the meal portions were good sized for the prices. Keep in mind portions are made for courses! If you dont get an app/salad or dessert you might not feel there is enough food. This is not the place you leave with leftovers.
10) We did the Sorbetto and the Spumoni for dessert. Presentation for these were great. I LOVED the hallowed out lemon. The gelato was really good, again light flavors but a sweet/salty combo (strawberry, chocolate, pistachio with a salty dark/semi-sweet shell and a sweeter chocolate sauce) BUT we should have asked for a knife and fork because the ball kept rolling all over while trying to eat it.
11) We didnt do drinks because we went to Century Bar after
12) Only minor stuff that is not Roosts fault is the parking -Oregon district parking sucks
Overall meal was $115 ish including tip (1 app, 2 entres, 2 desserts). We left full and satisfied and felt we got really good food/service. I had no symptoms after eating everything. We read the negative reviews before going and felt they were likely due to impatience (good food takes time and this isant fast food), and people not realizing the type of food/flavors Roost is offering.
Gluten sensitive NOT gluten free or ciliac safe.
Only option is plane noodles with grilled chicken but they are completely contamination aged by the way they make it . No seperate pot for pasta or separately pan for chicken.
Holy toppings Batman! This is some tasty pizza. If the crust was any thinner you wouldn't be able to pick it up under its own weight. We had a large group and they helped get us the back corner reserved with all the pizzas ready by the time we arrived. They also have a very good gluten free crust available with all the same great toppings. We'll be back for sure.
The pizza breadsticks were a travesty. 3 of the regular breadsticks cut in half to make 6, with 2 slices of white cheese covering them (each slice covering 3 half breadsticks), and 2 pepperonis per half bread stick. The breadsticks could have been from the day before because it was so oily you wouldn't know any different.
The Gluten Friendly Chicken Pesto Rotini was good. I'm not gluten free but the chicken pesto sounded good tonight. I couldn't tell the pasta was gluten free. Good amount of sauce and cheese which they are occasionally light on. They didn't over do the pesto either.
This was a take out order. Would have been 4 stars if not for the pizza breadsticks. I've gotten take out from this location several times and it has been good quality. I recommend it if you are looking for a Fazolis or fast food Italian just don't get the pizza breadsticks.
After years of passing by, this cozy spot surprises with a homey vibe, casual chats, and a chill atmosphere perfect for a relaxed hangout.
