Our waiter managed to drop an entire tray of water on me—soaking my clothes, my seat, and completely ruining my evening as I had a meeting to attend directly after. Sure, accidents happen, but what really set me off was the complete lack of an apology or any effort to make things right. Not a single “I’m sorry,” not a manager check-in, nothing. He just kept moving on like I didn’t just get drenched....in front of like 20 people. Which in it's own right is respectable because I can always appreciate someone who can keep their cool, BUT NEVERTHELESS:
When the bill came, the only attempt at compensation was offering me a slice of cheesecake—which, surprise surprise, I couldn’t even eat because I have a gluten allergy (slightly irrelevant but point in case remains). Take your date night, special occasion, or whatever literally anywhere else.
Expect a vibrant spot serving up quick, delicious meals with an array of healthy options, perfect for a refreshing lunch break.

Well worth the 45 minute drive. Excellent food. Happened to be there for buffet night. Everything was top notch with fair pricing. Also great atmosphere. Clean and tastefully decorated. Many gluten free options if needed.
I love visiting Kool Beans. It is located in downtown Brookings, SD and they have the best coffee!!! I love the inviting atmosphere, the baristas are friendly, the coffee is hot and delicious, and they offer homemade baked goods with gluten free and vegan options! No other coffee shop in Brookings offers that! You can find the owner, Kurt, doing pour overs every Saturday at the farmers market. I highly recommend Kool Beans next time you are wandering downtown Brookings.
