The Willow Tea Rooms

Loved the view from the restaurant, the afternoon tea was reasonably priced with coffee/tea refills. Gluten free options also available, easy to find on princess street and wind down after shopping or exploring. Tuna Mayonnaise sandwich was amazing!

Had the gluten free traditional afternoon tea with a blueberry cheesecake. Lovely meal, lots of food, was full for hours. Very sweet and heavy, but nice. The gf bread was ok, sandwhiches clearly premade and refrigerated. The scone was warm and very good. Sensitive celiac, no ill effects (though I took a digestive enzyme bc of fear for cc).

It's a nice place and the desserts are yummy BUT Unfortunately one of the employees was probably not trained for allergies and intolerances. I visited in December and I am coeliac, I ve asked The GF menu and I have been told that I could order anything from there. So I did. After few bites j started to feel fainting and bloated,something was wrong. I know myself too well. So I very called the same girl and I very double checked making sure it was gluten free , she confirmed. I had a terrible night that day. After 2 months I came back for a tea with one of my friend and when I was going to order, another employees specified that the ones I very chosen were only dairy free and not gluten free, you guys need to pay attention with who you hire because if I was allergic and not intolerant, I may have died and you guys were in trouble. Please double check when you visit this place.
