Spontaneity on our anniversary We stopping to try Torchy's Taco was a spontaneous choice, but we will visit often from now on. Our visit started with a cheerful welcome and patient help from Michelle, at the register. After helping us find some interesting lunch choices, she followed up later by bringing my bride a gluten free menu to take home with us. The tacos were wonderful, but there was was more to appreciate. Felipe, the manager stopped by, asking how we were enjoying our meal - not an obligatory and cursory question. He was keenly interested in hearing about our experience. Learning we were first time guests, he came back later with chips, queso and salsa to try. Cleanliness, good food, friendly service, and caring attitudes checked all the boxes. We recommend Torchy's Taco and we'll be back soon.

Edit: received email from the manager offering refund and apologies. Upgrading review because of the excellent customer service response and because their food is really good and this is the first time I’ve had an issue. Leaving original review as background. Employees need better allergen training! This place is tasty and I think it’s great that they list their allergens so clearly online. However, people in the kitchen don’t seem consistently trained on allergens. For starters, I have celiac disease and cannot eat gluten. I ordered a “fried” avocado taco, which the menu says to get on a corn tortilla, sub fresh avocado for fried for it to be gluten-free, which I did. I also got a bean egg and cheese taco on corn, which had no problems. I clearly marked “gluten allergy” on everything I ordered, and this was also on my receipt to confirm. However, when I got there to pick up my order, avocado taco was on flour tortilla instead of corn. I asked the employee at the register if I could have it remade and showed her my receipt. She was extremely friendly and said she would have it remade, and she took the receipt to show the cooks my order. When she came back out with my taco, it was on a corn tortilla....but it had fried avocado instead of fresh!!! At this point I was exasperated and in a hurry, so I just threw it away instead of asking for it to be remade AGAIN. No complaints about woman at cash register, who was extremely nice and helpful. I do wish they would do some training with the cooks to be extra careful with allergen orders and to understand what has gluten and what doesn’t. Then they might stop to think before putting fried battered avocado or a flour tortilla in an order where everything is marked “gluten allergy
