Apparently I'm getting old with the basics and have been a customer for a long time: I particularly appreciated the organic offering (I can do without esoteric Demeter) and the offering from small labels, especially in the specialty area (gluten-free, lactose-free, sugar-free ) and from regional (Bavarian) providers. But since the takeover of Basic by tegut (or Swiss Migros), things have been going steadily downhill: the offer that used to be the reason to choose the Basic in the first place is gradually disappearing, and a standard selection of a certain dominant brand is spreading. Regional and boutique items disappear, variety decreases, fruit selection now in plastic packaging, butcher counter monotonous, milk from northern Germany (in Bavaria!!), etc. pp. I understand that tegut wants to standardize the logistics and processes, but I estimate that tegut is only taking part of the strategic position of this branch into account: The competition in the area is high due to alternative, good supermarkets and numerous specialist shops. At the same time, there tends to be a high willingness to pay from selected customers (we are in the center of Munich). Consequently, a position as an everyday supermarket is a wasted opportunity. By the way, the staff at basic are (still have always been) highly motivated, friendly and have a lot of passion. However, in numerous conversations you can tell that there is great frustration with the "theorists at headquarters" who are ruining what was once a good offer. In short: I miss the old basic and notice how I shop more and more at alternative places.
