I am gluten free our waitress was very knowledgeable about the menu items. So it made it easier for me to order safely. I also learned that their rice is safe unlike wgat I had read and online. The corn tortillas are hand made daily so they are also safe. I was so excited to be able to enjoy a meal like i had before I had a gluten sensitivity.

If you’re looking for the best tacos in downtown Knoxville, you have to come here. Compared to Chivo and soccer taco, this is the best. We really love the fish tacos, dip trio and the Cuban. Portion sizes are really good. Our vegetarian friends love the black bean burger. I even have gluten-free friends that can enjoy a meal here. Their margaritas are the best downtown. I highly recommend the blood orange margarita. The atmosphere is quirky and fun, which matches their neon sign, paying homage to the name. It’s always lively, and there are some days you can catch live music. Prices are fair and good for what you’re getting. Portion size is filling. Since they’ve come under new ownership a few years ago, it has greatly improved. Previously, I would not go here. But now it’s become one of my favorites. I have even brought out of town clients here for dinner who have enjoyed it. It is a laid-back atmosphere. The service has always been excellent, and the staff has always been attentive. You can tell that people enjoy it there. I do recommend getting a reservation here if you are looking for outdoor seating or having a large party 6+, especially during their busy time at dinner. The patio feels quickly in the warmer months, so if you want that space get a reservation. Their back door leads to Marble Alley’s upstairs bar, which is a great place to go after you’ve had your fill for games, or to enjoy the bowling alley.

So having spent a decade in CO before coming to Knoxville, we have a pretty high bar for Mexican food. While the place was clean and the service average, the food was not up to either of our standards. The Old Fashioned Beef taco was interesting and not horrible. But neither of us cared for the remaining items on our plates. I had the Chimi combo which included a chimichanga, chicken chalupa and aforementioned taco. She had the avocado enchiladas since they were supposedly gluten free. The chicken on the chalupa was bland. The chimi wasn't edible IMHO. It had some weird Wang to it. The wife ate one of the avocado enchiladas but wasn't impressed.

A kitschy atmosphere of Elvis and classic Hollywood monsters join the usual Mexican restaurant decor as you step inside. The service is fantastic and the food even more so. The staff were really good in fixing my friend a tasty gluten-free version of one of their famous dishes. Her boyfriend's meal (Cuban quesadilla) and mine (black and blue chicken nachos) were delicious. I will definitely return in the future.

Great lunch spot. Friendly service, fresh hot food and very tasty. Gluten Friendlyoptions and my experience was grade A+. (Changed gloves without asking, knew to pull fresh ingredients so no cross contamination.) Music level was nice and the genre was easy on the ears. It is across from the Starbucks and the parking lot is a little tricky but worth negotiating. It is counter service but it moves quickly. They do catering and fundraising too! Chips and salsa are free with any entree.

After eating here, I wanted to ask about a franchise for our town! Many gluten free options and dog friendly patio. We visited after hiking and had our dog with us, the manager was so friendly and opened up the patio for us even though it was a little chilly and drizzling. Our waitress was wonderful!

I've used Salsarita's Catering twice, and I could not be happier. They are polite, show up when they're scheduled, do a nice job setting things up, the prices are quite reasonable, and my guests enjoy the food. The fajita bar is a great way to accommodate a wide range of food restrictions, particularly if I get some gluten-free tortillas from the grocery store (I recommend the Mission almond tortillas, as Salsarita's doesn't have any GF tortillas).
